Alright then let's stick Saha next to him. Maybe put Beckford at left mid.

Centre mids are meant to influence the game in the early stages of play. They're the engine; the spark; the creative hub. Cahill is not that. He is a finisher.

He can play at CM but then so can Jagielka. I'd rather have Osman there though.

If we play 4-4-1-1 to accommodate him, we end up with a lone striker who has to try and carry the fight by himself. If we can drop him in to a 4-4-2 it will allow us to play with another striker. Cahill scored more than Saha and Beckford last season, even though he was absent or injured for the second part of it. We can't afford to just throw that contribution away.
 

Najar has been wide open on the left - is Coleman supposed to be covering him? Better teams would punish that.
 
Moyes has obviously given the players a bollocking for playing good football so we're are back to misplaced passes and aimless lumps upfield to give them the ball straight back.

But he scored those goals mostly in games we lost. We won more playing 4-4-2 with Osman in that role.
