ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

7th would be ideal if we could push them into it. No free pass into the CL at the end of that one yet still a load of games to bother the squad.
Thedy are in a really poor position right now: CL spot not defo gone, so they have to go for wins still; but if they secure another couple of wins they almost certainly cement themselves into a EL spot.

It'll be fun to watch.

It would be great but if they won it the weird fans they have would spin it in to some major achievement. Like they did with the super cup and club World Cup thing. I would rather they won nothing ever again.

They’ll go all out against United, but if they lose that I can see their players reining back once top 4 is gone. Thoughts will turn to avoiding injuries for the euros. They’re not going to be busting a gut to make sure they finish 5th rather than 7th. Hopefully United just do the business and then the summer of soul searching at murder inc. can begin.

Even their lot couldn’t spin that one. It would be different if they hadn’t won anything for a while (like when they made the Europa final in Klopp’s first season) but when you’ve won the big trophies only a few seasons ago you can’t big up the Europa conference league. That said I’m in full agreement I’d rather they finished 8th, just can’t see all of us West Ham and Spurs finishing ahead of them.

A draw against United might be a good result in that respect; then they'll play 3 winnabale games against WBA, Burnley and Palace. Those fixtures will keep them *honest* as they'll believe Leicester or Chelsea could well slip up with their tougher games left..one against each other.

As said: they are between a rock and a hard place - almost out of the CL places, but not that certain that they can give up on playing for results and thereby falling into the EL or Euro Conference League places.

It wouldn't be the first time, when they won the league in the 60's they went on a lap of honour with a wooden trophy that one of the fans had made, it's true honestly, too old and stupid to know how to put up a picture.

This is it mate, it was made out of an old vase with a wooded bannister newel post finial as the lid and pictures from a newspaper stuck on it. lol

Will be interesting to see the motivation of Spurs and Liverpool if/when top 4 disappears for them. Do they want europa, will they look to actually try and avoid it to have a run at the league next season. That said it’s probably the easiest route into the CL these days as it’s probably harder to finish 4th. I’m hoping Liverpool lose to United then lose focus as the CL is all but gone. Would be ideal if we could finish ahead of Arsenal Spurs and Liverpool.
Tottenham to have a run at the league bit was hilarious
