Well you can play more horizontal, lots of sideways passing and switches to stretch a defence. Slower playstyle. (Tiki-taka)
Or you can play more vertical where you just aim to go long and quickly, lots of runs behind etc. (Liverpool last year)

I know you're laughing but there is a train of thought in coaching about this. When Carlo first joined the most noteworthy comments coming from the club seemed to be his focus on 'vertical lines.' Otherwise known as 'playing direct' for us mere plebs. Unfortunately it seems like we haven't quite got the personnel to fully execute the style yet.
I'm not too concerned about Dom's dry spell. To me it says more about the adjustments we've made to balance the side. He's proven he's quality. Carlo will find solutions to get the best out of him in future.
Next season he'll benefit massively from a new right back, and hopefully another midfielder who plays forward.
