TBF if they'd waited until everyone else in the SL left it would have been never more accurate

To whom? It would only be penalties to the ESL, which is owned and run by... the very clubs in it. If they decide to disband it they can, probably the only way they could be forced to pay penalties is if a majority of the clubs stay in the ESL. And then it would be PR suicide to be one of the last clubs forcing the others to pay up. Their league would likely kick them out as well.

Has anyone seen / read a balanced view of the ESL idea? I understand the anti-ESL sentiment, but don't really know a balanced view of why the clubs have signed up to it, apart from money / greed. If that's the case, how is it different from 1992 and the formative of the premier league?

It's easy for us to say that we would have said no if we were invited, but I really hope that's true and judging by the way the club conducted the Everton crest fiasco (I liked the new trendy one but accepted the democratic decision happily) and the stadium consultation (very nicely done) I really feel like they have the fans' interests at heart. but, i dont know how this is worse for the fans then the Premier league is anyway? (sorry if it's a stupid question havent had time to process everything)

Some great helpful explanations to my basic question, when yesterday I didn't really understand how it had happened so fast.
I'm so proud we have maintained our dignity and identity with the statements this morning.

So much has happened in 48 hours and I've been surprised, or interested to see a few things in particular

- In all the attacks on the big 6 - nobody really talked about their fans and players. I wish in a way we had shown some solidarity with fans and players of the big 6, which might have gone even further to show our understanding of the problem. Anyway, we didn't attack them and at least for half the day today, EFC had a lot of positive support for our actions.
- As usual Klopp was on the defensive, not really knowing what people were arguing about and looking for a way to paint a picture as the victim. Of course the reds players and fans were not consulted, but nobody was having a go at them ffs
- Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher spoke well
- Everton's statement today was perfect, and is now quickly forgotten - but I hope our leadership and guts are remembered later.

What do you think happens next? I hope that the big 6 are not just welcomed back openly and we just pretend like it never happened. I don't know about a punishment but if we just move on from this, dont think they won't find a different way to exert their power.

It's exciting, complicated and dramatic. Glad we're on the right side of history.

Interesting too that the 4 clubs who are all coincidentally outside the top 6 this year, at this point in time are 'historical, traditional clubs' Villa, Leeds, West Ham and us of course.
