I wonder if this ESL concept has any in-built flex that they haven't revealed yet, so they can be seen to 'compromise'. Their approach so far is just so brazenly arrogant and completely self-inflating, leaving the rest of football to accept a permanent and irreversible downgrade from which they can never progress.
I don't think there is really a cat in hells chance of it happening in the way it is currently being described. If we go the boring, realistic route, eventually UEFA and FIFA will come to the table and there will be an ESL-weighted compromise. Maybe this will ultimately be a UEFA-endorsed league, but very much in favour of the 'founding' ESL clubs. It could become open so teams can legitimately qualify and get relegated on sporting merit, but the 'founders' will always have a special status where they get massive payments even if they've not qualified.
