Champions League revamp

Pretty weak statement IMO

It's about what you could get out of this collective. Very few of them want to burn the bridges the way we do.

Instead of trying to set up a meeting with other Premier League captains so he can look important, why doesn't "Hendo" instead arrange a meeting with his chairman and tell him he won't kick another ball for Liverpool until this stupid idea is dropped?

Because he needs to make sure he has backing across the affected clubs before making a move. He can't afford to be out on an island. He needs solidarity across the board. The only way to find out if he has it, or try to generate it if he hasn't, is to ask.

The Premier League, alongside The FA, met with clubs today to discuss the immediate implications of the Super League proposal.

The 14 clubs at the meeting unanimously and vigorously rejected the plans for the competition.

The Premier League is considering all actions available to prevent it from progressing, as well as holding those Shareholders involved to account under its rules.

The League will continue to work with key stakeholders including fan groups, Government, UEFA, The FA, EFL, PFA and LMA to protect the best interests of the game and call on those clubs involved in the proposed competition to cease their involvement immediately.

The Premier League would like to thank fans and all stakeholders for the support they have shown this week on this significant issue.

The reaction proves just how much our open pyramid and football community means to people.

Holding statement

And I definitely know a holding statement or email when I see one !

He only needs that because he hasn't got a spine. If he had actual integrity, he'd just do it.

Same criticism for Rashford too. A tweet is one thing; an action that means something is another.

They say that the outcome of a coup is determined in the first five minutes. Well, metaphorically speaking, as soon as Florentino Perez went babbling preposterously on some Spanish outlet last night, the jig was up. If this was going to succeed, there would have been a wall of unity from the plotters. Instead, we had no PSG, no Bayern, Napoli and Roma treated like the hired help, and managers and players paraded in front of the media to defend the indefensible.

This was never designed to succeed. It was meant to shock and awe and force further concessions from UEFA, which it inevitably will. UEFA can pose as being the great defenders of the game, but they will be negotiating from a position of weakness. The can will be kicked down the road. The "football family" will come together.

Because those 6 clubs play significantly more in the Premier League.

Anyone who thinks for one moment the TV deal would be anywhere near what it is without the audience's those 6 clubs bring are very, very wrong.
I wouldn't suggest it would be, but equally the allure for the 6 clubs won't be as great without "the rest" either. The Premier League is the most lucrative league because of that competition. Let's be honest here. Chelsea and City are teams with zero history who have bought their way to the top table. Spurs and Arsenal haven't won the league in an absolute age and will be among the cannon fodder of any Super League group.

Premier league statement is exactly what you’d expect.

They will all be playing in the premier league next season and probably without docked points
