Champions League revamp

Carragher while trying to say the right things kept attacking man u and Everton for some reason. Klopp went all out. You'd wish it was just our bias. But its real. They are so so different in all the wrong ways.

I didn't see it but he must've sounded demented. 12 Clubs acting in their own interests to a point where it's incredibly damaging to hundreds of Clubs across Europe and he's talking about the evils of Everton!

I just imagine him flapping his arms around fighting off invisible insects he thinks are trying to steal his life energy while saying all this.

I hope they do breakaway and that meff gets a job summarising their games. They'd be nothing for him to discuss in a Premier League without the RS.

I sincerly hope the big 6 keep going with these plans as its long term the best thing that could happen to this club.

I agree. I think Moshiri agrees.

I think that he realizes that them coming back into the fold is the most likely outcome and is already trying to steer the 14 towards only accepting them back on conditions that are more favorable to them than the status quo.

I think he's taking the hardest line possible knowing well that the other 13 players are going to see through the self-interest in that, but also reasoning that he is best off making the bargaining space as wide as possible by taking the hardest line possible. It also has the advantage of being what everyone believes is his sincere preference, so no one can accuse him of shading the truth.

It really, really won't.

You take away Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs and you lose the vast majority of your audience.

On what planet do broadcasters pay "comparatively" the same without them?
The Champions League has all of those clubs, and BT paid £1.2 billion for the rights. The Premier League deal is worth about 3x that.

The punishments I mentioned above is on the condition that they’ve withdrawn the plan.

why would you want to punish clubs for leaving the SL (and wrecking it)

if City and Chelsea bail, do nothing to them - at all. Give the rest 12 hours from then and if they don’t surrender, then start with the bans, fines etc

Because they've essentially gone and signed a contract with another employer behind their current employer's back

Do you not think there's something wrong with that?

I don't think you get what I mean...Maybe I worded it badly.

We would get the same slice of a smaller pie. It leaves every club in a status quo in terms of the other 13 clubs in the league. (and indeed all over Europe) We would have to adapt accordingly.

Say Digne wants a new contract and nobody in the ESL wants him what is he going to do? Retire? He will take the best offer that the rest of the clubs can give him. It would be a rocky few years during the adaption but football would go on as always.

The big obvious danger is one of the ESL clubs could blow teams out of the water if they wanted player for their league.

But football will go on, it always has and always will. The scum 6 leaving is a blow but not something that cant be worked around if need be.

An absolutely disgraceful event in European football right there.

Nobody can get relegated from it just like the Six Nations, meaning that we will never be able to get promoted from the Premier League to play in it, no matter if we kept winning the league. If a team kept finishing last every year and we kept winning the Prem, I’m sure we would be considered, but as it stands, it’s a closed league with no automatic promotion/relegation.

I can see the grass roots game being hurt by this arrangement and without grass roots football, the sport we love dies.
Georgia keep winning the Six Nations B, while Italy keep finishing last losing all their games for like over 30 matches now, yet they’re still there handing everyone five points every game they play, all while holding Georga’s development back by playing the likes of Romania every year. This is exactly what will happen here with its closed format.

If we kept winning the Prem and Spurs for example kept finishing last, I doubt we would be allowed in it.

Even if the breakaway teams were to still play in their domestic leagues, FIFA, the FA and UEFA would ban the players from their competitions, meaning we would be playing RedShite B Team for example, not the real opposition.

It stinks of greed all while National League clubs are struggling and furloughing players.
