Champions League revamp

I don't think it matters on the votes does it mate? If they've broken the rules they can be kicked out regardless.

I imagine limp wristed points deduction and transfer embargo is mor likely though which is why the other 14 should make a stand / their fans refuse to go back next season.
I honestly couldn't say mate. I hope they can be just punted like.

Don't know if it's greed or pure desperation. Or both. But it seems like the pandemic has properly dented their revenue streams. Throw in the fact you now have Leicester, us, West Ham and Villa knocking on the door of the Champions League. Even newly promoted Leeds aren't far off and could jump ahead of north London red and white. They want to pull up the drawbridge before we get there. It's hard-nosed American business men doing what they do best.

City and to a lesser extent Chelsea don't need to do this. Disappointed they jumped ship. But I hold my nose when I say this, it's United and the RS that'll open up the markets that make it all stack up for them. The other 4 could leave and the Premier league would be just fine.

It's both. They've lost millions, most of them are in a precarious situation financially, and are self reliant on domestic league finishes and champions league to keep things happy.

What they see is...we don't need the hassle when we're the biggest draws in the competition. Let's make guaranteed bank and self sustain.

The absolute hypocrisy of that football club moaning because Leeds fans shouted at their coach/players.

it’s comical. I do agree that the Liverpool players are not to blame here and so they were unfairly targeted but the players are the only one who will take any of the anger for this because the owners who make the decisions hide away like the cowards they are

....but the clubs don’t want to leave the EPL. This is more about whether the EPL want these clubs.

Yes but they have (by all accounts) broken the terms of their contracts with the EPL which is to the detriment of the 14. I think I was originally responding as to whether the remaining 14 could expel the 6 if they so chose. I believe they can and should.

I'm not happy per se, but if SL happens, I'll watch the games there sooner than I'd watch CL. Can't remember when's the last time I got excited about CL if it wasn't a SF game.
That's because these very same teams who are wanting to break away lobbied to setup the CL in a way that maximises the amount of games they play so they make more money. They would have all been against making games more exciting by getting rid of the seeding system and having knockout rounds from the start because potentially they could end up playing each other early and being knocked out.

The problem is UEFA listened to these rats in the first place and it still wasn't enough for them, greed has taken over their clubs and football has become a secondary to their primary motivation for being; money.

This is what it's all about there is changing of the guard, and they don't like it. Football has always worked like this with cycles, less so in recent times. However, businesses do not like this model and will seek to ring fence their position, all they are doing in essence is "price fixing" to stunt competition.
Everyone say hiya to crony capitalism...

He spoke quite well there.

Pity he didnt name the owners.
The owners and the club's sponsors.

There is clearly a groundswell of anger and passionate opinion against this unethical money grab.

These sponsors are inseparable from the actions of their partner clubs and a bit of consumer action would make some of these companies want to dissociate with this cultural vandalism.

These brands are supporting potential cultural and community destruction, greed and socially irresponsible governance.

A template letter and CEO email list of these firms should circulated among all club fanbases and the like. Cut off the life blood of these corporate monsters.

They are not to blame, but they will be complicit if they claim "we're going along with it because we're just the players/staff".

I think this Government led fan review that’s been announced will do the trick.
No, really, it’s just what’s needed to reset the game and ensure our clubs are owned by decent, law abiding folk with the best interests of the game and the fans at heart. I have every confidence that their far reaching recommendations delivered firmly and quickly will make absolutely feck all difference to the Scab 6 and their hypocritical customers.
