Its beyond doubt that the Spanish and Italian clubs have been horrendously run for a number of years.

Its also beyond doubt that the English clubs, financially, are in a sounder shape.

On what planet would the English owners think getting into bed with them is even a good idea?

I'm not sure they can ban them until they actually leave. I think this is a bargaining tool. However it's the nuclear option and if somebody bargained with me like that I'd leave the room.
