New Everton Stadium

Why ?
Do you think the Champions lge will disapear or Europa lge.

Do you think SKY & BT would drop the Prem lge. & Fa Cup.

Football isnt just going to go away.
The money will disappear from the CL. It will be a second rate competition. Do you think sponsors will pay the same money for it if Barcelona / Real Madrid etc aren’t in it?

If Everton can’t get to the top competition, do you think we will be able to get and keep the players we need to get to the top of whatever is left?

This will reduce the attractiveness of the PL. Our funding will gradually reduce. The whole point is money.

It can and will be fought, but there is an almighty fight brewing, make no mistake.

......if the European League happens, it has to have an impact on the New Stadium Business Case. That case is based on forecast of future income streams.
Of course it will. We don’t know what impact it will have on revenue streams. It’s bound to lead to a re evaluation.

Of course everything is relative. To be able to plough in the naming rights it has to happen, else we stand still, we don't increase in value as a club and then the money already ploughed in becomes a waste.

If this does go ahead eventually the 'super' league becomes the norm and there is a pathway in, or the whole thing collapses on its ass and those clubs come back. Either way we have to make sure we are best positioned to be able to compete.

You hope

With respect mate I'm not sure you understand what is going on here.
Its an unregulated league and clubs and players are going to be heavily punished for this.
Massive fines
Stripped of titles
Players not allowed to play for their countries.
Money might carry it for a year or 2 but long term it'll be a disaster.

you hope

This situation reminds me of the ‘Kerry Packer’ events in cricket, in the late 70’s. Packer set up a ‘World Series cricket’ competition because his channel 9 tv company could not get broadcasting rights from the Australian cricket board.
It was a costly battle, with the players who signed up for Packer being banned from test cricket and both sides being financially hurt. Eventually, after 3 years a compromise was reached and Packer agreed a deal for tv rights with the Australian cricket board. International sanctions were still kept against the players who had signed up with Packer for a couple of more years.
It was a sorry story, which changed the face of international cricket for ever. Let’s hope that all parties involved in this current situation remember this turmoil and reach some kind of compromise.

I think it depends on the views of players and managers.
do they want to be on an unending circuit of Manchester/Madrid/Turin? Well... maybe... tennis players are... same games, different city, month in, month out.
but....I think most players will recognise that a league with no consequences for being dire will ultimately kill it as a game.

Maybe. But I don’t have much faith that enough will think like that.

PL and UEFA are the only ones who can realistically kill this

Depends on why you believe Usmanov/Moshiri are involved in Everton for.

If they just wanted to make money they could have easily just sat on their Arsenal shares.

For me they want a plaything and to run a successful club which they could have never done only owning a 1/3 of Arsenal therefore they bought into us.

Liverpool Waters will make big money regardless of the football element - BMD is for me more a money earner in itself than of the cost in terms of the football side of things.

If Usmanov is clever enough he see's this situation as 1992 all over again - he can make us the next Man Utd or Arsenal IF he capitalises on the power vaccum this may create if the big 6 leave.

International Cricket came out of the Packer debacle a lot stronger and very much more aware of its marketing possibilities. This new Super League if it ever happens, will appear to many to be a group of clubs continually playing friendlies against each other, with no emotion caused by threats of relegation and chances of winning titles. I would not be surprised to see a backlash against the 'Super Twelve' from genuine supporters. Really, if youre playing against the same teams over and over again, whats the point. Go on,RS, off you go to your safety first playground, then there really will be only one team on Merseyside, the blue one.

Everything is up in the air right now. It's far too early to know how this might effect us going forward and whether the stadium will remain viable.

It definitely could have an impact but if we have to stay at Goodison because of this then so be it. At least we will still have our self respect and dignity.

It doesn’t harm US sport though.
Players will follow the money.

To stop it, they will somehow have to be hit financially without destroying the domestic competitions.
