Champions League revamp

The problem is the prize money is based on the tv revenue which is so high due to the prestige of the teams involved. TV companies will not pay big money for a product involving what they see as “lesser teams”. Football fans obviously don’t see it that way, but looking at football from a pure business perspective this would be a disaster for all clubs.

This is why it’s also not so simple as to just threaten these clubs with expulsion from domestic leagues. We may not want to admit it, and in fact we might enjoy it for a year or two, but a league without those clubs would be seen as massively inferior. I mean; who knows, it might be more enjoyable. It’ll probably be more even and you might get a different title winner every year. But Sky and BT won’t be paying big money for Super Sunday’s where Everton vs Leicester is the biggest game of the season. The repercussions on finances would be huge.

However there seems to be resistance from German clubs and currently PSG. Hopefully the fans of these clubs kick up enough of a fuss to stop it from happening.

There would be no point of those 6 being in the league. They would use if for youth development as there European places would be guaranteed. It would be painful in the short term but the brave move would be to kick them out. Although I have to say I was not expecting all 6 to sign up/be invited

Everton, Villa, Newcastle, Leicester, Wolves, Leeds and possibly Celtic and Rangers could be quite entertaining but would have little international appeal in the short term. All the best players will get hoovered up as the wage disparity will be massive. Good time to build a new stadium lol. Interest that Germany and France are not backing it. Credit to them

I personally don't watch too much football, only Everton, the odd Premier League game and the occasional Champions League. Would make an active effort not to watch this European Super League nonsense.

Would anyone here pay to watch it?
No chance in hell, cant see many apart from fans from the teams in the league

Let’s make it an actual league. The top 4 teams from the top 5 leagues in Europe qualify for a 20 team competition, they all play each other once on neutral ground and whoever has the most points as they do in a league, wins. A knock out format does not determine the best team on the continent.

Meanwhile, the Europa League is competed by teams in leagues ranked 6th downwards and if the teams want to compete in the UCL, they simply have to do well in the UEL to move their league into the top 5 of the UEFA ranking.

The Conference league would be the last quarter of the national league rankings taking part.

The PL board will stop this unless they've been paid off by the The three American clown owners which wouldn't surprise making it dead in the water already.
