Just don’t think we should be going into our 2 biggest games of the season and coming out of them thinking what might have been if we’d had a decent squad

he’s ultimately responsible for it so he has to do better at his job
 
Pros:

Looks good in a suit.

Can negotiate values down.

Cons:

Wears weird Fendi stuff

Ignores January

Still don’t know what type of football he wants the club to play.

Bought into our rotten culture of rewarding failure.

Leaves us glaringly short in one position season on season

Commissioned the signings of Alex Iwobi and Fabian Delph

Why do you think we over spent on some players? Have a guess?

We have been mainly woeful in all competitions for the last 26 years so for us to get those players to win leagues and cups we have to:
A - Match Their Ambitions
B - Spend a lot more than we did on Iwobi
C - Spend a lot more on wages than we did on Iwobi
D - We have to do A B and C for 20 or so players.

The only recent teams to do ABC and D have been Chelsea, Liverpool and City.

In the simplest of terms, we don't have the cash they have spent because we haven't be competing at a level which allows to clubs to operate.

Our revenue VS City:

Everton - £64 million
City - £750 million.

We held our own for 84 mins against a team worth 11 TIMES more than us.

If you can't accept that the better team won and move on with trying to point a finger or drag a player out, Everton isn't for you.

Maybe we should just give them the tie then mate, we can't compete, what is the point then? We got knocked out without laying a glove on them, so what they're a good side; they are better than us and if both sides turn up, they 9 timers out of ten win, doesn't mean we shouldn't at least try and win does it?
 
The whole january thing is bizarre as well, when you only have two windows to basically write one of them off is negligent imo. It's his job to find good value, that's why he is paid handsomely and has a scouting network.

I want Brands to stay but he hasn't been flawless, far from it.

Didn't he just sign Josh King (valued at 20m ish in the summer) essentially for free in January?

The point with January is that usually the value isn't there (and usually we don't have the money, having spent all of ours in the summer)

Yeah it was a panic signing at the end of the window and the guy barely plays. My point is the January window is there to be used, not using it limits you to 2 months in summer to get your squad together but injuries happen and if you don't use the windows available then you leave yourself short, This is where we are, short because there's no value in january. Maybe no value in this country but there's a whole world of players, surely one could have helped us with the injuries we have rather than just saying no, don't do january?

The players you want for squad building are not generally available in January. you end up wit( players like Tosun and Walcott.

That's his job mate, not leaving us with no forwards and no bench 3/4 into the season when they've just had a window, it's not good enough.

I tell you what I find astounding, is how accepting of below average we have become, all through the club, the excuses rolled out from fans and board alike are testament to plucky old Everton. times have changed when trying not to lose against city has become our target.

Shocked at how accepting of this utter bilge we are getting served up by these players. I have had enough now, the sport stinks.

Strange question that is. I'm not a DoF or s scout why is it my remit to mention players. I leave that to people paid millions to do it thanks. Fancy thinking not one player in world football could possibly have helped us get fourth. The opportunity this season has been there because of covid and we let it slide right out of view, pffft no thanks, not good enough.
