Today’s Football 2020/21 Season

75% of the Champions League is utter dross that wouldn’t get into the top half of the prem. the FA Cup is harder to win. It’s harder to qualify for the CL via the prem than it is to win it. Some of the groups are a complete joke then you’re one decent draw away from the QFs every single season. Ridiculous competition.

Surely a competition, granted in shorter format, with ties over two legs H&A is going to be tougher to win than beating rotheram, Burnley, Newport, swansea brighton & watford.

All I will say is that the likes of City Chelsea United would love for a quarter final of a champions league, yet Liverpool seem to make it nearly every season even with some of their poorest sides. They have the most bizarre relationship with that comp. I’m convinced their under 23s could probably make the quarters. Usual rubbish group that they’d top and then the easiest second round draw.

Which weak side will they amazingly find in the next round?

You may recall the way they fluked their way through the 2018 and 2019 competitions with the weakest possible opponents (just on Coefficient alone, not my subjective thinking) and then got lucky in all the draws (bar City and maybe Barca, but even then the inevitable 2nd leg at home). Roma, Porto, Seville, and then Spurs (and the freebie penalty). Ranking wise they were about 22nd - like Norwich (in the Championship then) winning the FA Cup by not meeting anyone better than Wolves (mid ranked PL at the time). From Pot 3 they got Seville (pt.1), Shaktar and this season's collection of bang average sides. They are at it again.

They even got Porto when they had the worst qualifying record out of the groups. If they made it Best Qualifier (1st) vs World Runner-up (16th) they'd never keep getting all the luck they somehow find.

And don't even start me on their 2nd leg at Home fluke record over 60 years. It's so far beyond 3SD from the mean as to be scarcely credible - and I am not counting 2nd legs by dint of winning a group. It's somewhere over SEVENTY percent of random draws. Over several hundred two leg ties that's barely believable.

We’ll probably have to beat Spurs City Chelsea United to win the cup this season. You can’t lose any games either. In the CL you can lose 6 games if you want to and still end up in the final. I’ll doubt very much that the team who wins the CL has had 4 tougher assignments than them without incurring any losses.

impossible to score a league based on success in cup competitions. Man city would run away with bundesliga or la liga, but suspect they will find a way to mess up the CL at some stage.
They aren't better than Bayern. It would resemble the RS and them the previous couple of years.

La Liga now they might. Prior to this season I'm not as sure. And Atletico have been very very good tbf to them.

Man city would be far more than 2 points clear of RBL over the course of a season

This is fair but also require some tough draws to do. In Spain a team at our level could draw something like Sevilla, Barca, Madrid, Atletico though and that's no easier. Germany doesn't have anything close.

These sort of like for likes are difficult though. Last season a pretty bang average 3rd place side in La Liga comfortably defeated the team who our league by 15+ points.

I personally think Bayern would walk our league without City.

I suppose my point is it's all guesswork and the CL is no way to compare. Im not so sure on Bayern, if they were in PL. Maybe it's a personal bias, but I dont think they would know what hit them in terms of tough games week after week
