ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Going back to what Keane said about them being bad champions, remind me of how many points City had to overhaul in 2019? At least 7 wasn't it? That's a winning mentality, a 'big club' mentality.
For me you say "obviously its gonna be tough, its a big gap now but there's half a season to go and we'll push them all the way, if City stumble we need to be able to take advantage."

They've been telling everyone how they're the greatest team on the planet for the last few months, if I was a fan I'd be expecting them to at least try and prove it.

Remember this was the bloke that in possibly his greatest hour of winning the CL and being on the parade for it, his foremost thought in his head was to aim some cheap shots at Everton. He was a bellend at Dortmund and he had remained one here which is probably why he’s picked fanbases that lap that sort of nonsense up. Can anyone imagine Fergie referencing Man City after United had won a CL? Klopp is an ego maniac attention whore who just wants all the limelight on him all the time and the second it’s not he gets angry and starts threatening people. A perfect embodiment of their fan base.
What did he say? I operated a media blackout for 2 weeks after that final.

I mean yes probably. However tmhe way he handled himself I think was fine. He was very professional.

The wider point, is I look at Klopp and see a man who at best is really not enjoying himself and is miserable. At worst, looks to be having a prolonged episode. I mean he wouldn't be out of place as an extra in a Brett Easten Ellis novel at this point.

I am not sure I see a man who is going to be in it for the long term at all. He jumped ship at Dortmund just in time to preserve reputation. That thought must be going through his head now.
He's setting that up by pointing the fingers at the owners.

He had no need to have 2 MFs in CD positions yesterday. He had 2 bought for him in the window and could have had Fabinho and Henderson back in midfield. He chose not to because he wants to show how he's "poorly resourced".

There's only one outcome if that continues.

Yes good point that. He has 4 cb's available who are 20 and upwards (so senior cb's, no "kids"). He chose to put to CM's in there, who lets be honest got embaressed yesterday. Fabinho for the penalty and Henderson for that goal.

Foden is good, but he's 20. Imagine what De Bruyne or Aguero do to them yesterday?

In a lot of ways, the owners called his bluff. They went and got him 2 cb's. They got him a CB they were apparently looking at paying 30m for. He doesn't pick him. It doesn't say a lot about that centre back does it? You do wonder what it does for the confidence of those involved.

He's a volatile element. Every bit as much as Mourinho. They are the sorts of manager who take a prolonged dip and turn it into a crisis.

Ferguson didn't even reference Liverpool when he won the CL never mind City. He was too busy winning other trophies in the same season though, which is what great teams do.

I think he must look long term now: City have been restructured after Pep bought well. They will buy a top striker in the summer and strengthen elsewhere if need be. Tuchel will get something out of Chelsea's very good squad. United are better than Liverpool now...they just need a manager to take them to their next title.

Klopp's Liverpool are on a par with us, Leicester and Spurs. And they'll be weakened in the summer again with the sale of Salah.

Its over for Klopp at Liverpool. I think his players know it too, that's why there's so few of them willing to put it in.

The disconnect between the 'Fab 3' (vomit inducing) up top is apparent now. I think each of them, especially Mane & Salah are in it for themselves now rather than selflessly fighting for the team as they did previous. They just want personal records and I reckon it's causing friction. I don't see them looking to set each other up now, instead it's all individual movements.

Gone are the selfless runs to create space for others, instead they just want there own glory. I think it's thus had an affect on the full backs. When was last time either Roberston or TAA tormented a team as they did in the past? There is definitely burn out and disillusion setting in but for me it stems from the front rather than the back.

I reckon one of Mane or Salah will definitely be off in the summer and it may benefit and reenergise them.

I'm starting to think it's so he can keep recycling the VVD injury is the reason they are so bad. He's fortunate the majority of the media won't pull him up on it.

It'll be interesting to see how long until "The Championship's Hottest Prospect" starts a game.
I would have thought Branthwaite was the Championship's hottest prospect
Davies was destined for the wasteland that is Scottish football before Klipperty intervened

If reports are true that city are looking to get Haaland to replace Aguero this summer by activating his release clause, they are going to take some catching. Foden, Cancelo, Stones, Diaz, Rodri all have their best footballing years still ahead of them. The core of the side Sterling, de Bruyne, Ederson, Silva are as good as anything in Europe.

That feller who wrote the article about caffeine etc has fairly recently followed it up with a two part piece...
