ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

That was a big week for Liverpool, away to Spurs and West Ham, 2 in form teams....some key players missing.....could have ended their title challenge, I expected it to end their title challenge

And somehow its an easy 6 points...

Hope City have the right attitude for the fight this season

It's significant in terms of CL - but irrelevant in terms of the title. City have two 11's, RS dont have a full one.

Even if RS win their next two including city next weekend, not a chance they finish close to Man city

Its mad really, when you consider their wage bills are about the same, that City have such a stronger squad.

100% agree - personally i'd back RS to beat them without de Bruyne, but I have zero doubt whatsover that City will win the league comfortably
I think they'll win it. Whether it's comfortable or not I dont know. City can absorb injuries better than Liverpool or any other team, and in a season where it'll be 2 games per week, that'll count big time.

It seems odd alright - Man City seem to stretch it further, but when you look into the detail, it seems unlikely that players signing for 50 - 70m consistently seem to settle for wagers reported at about 100k.

Maybe Pep's genius is signing players with agents who cant negotiate salaries

Have the ever signed anyone for 70m? I tghught their record was around 55m?

I haven't looked at their figures, but 300m seems around right. What surprises me if that Liverpool's wage bil is well over £300m yet they tell us the maximum earner is on 10m p/a. There's something a bit strange about all that. (My own view, is they only declare basic, and have huge bonuses, and that they pay players in their youth teams/23's mega money).

Either way, if I were a Liverpool fan, given we outspend pretty much everyone on wages, I'd be a bit narked that our squad was so inferior to rivals.

Yeah - fair point on both - but I stand by my point, it seems unlikely that you invest so much & maintain a relatively stable wage bill.

Well the books are audited and cross checked, so it's not like they can lie. Probably just smart recruitment from City. You also have to bear in mind, City have a world class manager, who players will join not for the money. Liverpool and United don't, so have to overpay to get players to come.

Aguero is back in training this week. He probably won't start against Liverpool but he will come of f the bench at some stage. He loves scoring against them! Any team will miss KDB but it's funny that somehow we actually look and play better without him. The team formation is so fluid it just adapts and other players step up - like Siva & Foden. Sometimes I think KDB inhibits other players. They just keep giving him the ball and expecting him to come with a miracle every time. We got kicked off the park against Sheffield United on the weekend and we have Burnley mid week who will do the same so injuries could a problem. However, I fancy us to do them and the very least to get a draw. I think it's the first time for ages that Liverpool are not odds with the bookies when playing at Anfield.
