ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

he got an absolute pass for it alright - another similar performance from him, looked good for 30 odd minutes and the disappeared. Maybe he is a magician afterall

Fraud is far too harsh a word, but I dont think a lot of their fans do their players much good. I remember the same with Keita for a time. 3 years in and the penny is dropping with that one. Some of the stuff was ludicrous as well, stuff like "you've never seen a player like Naby Keita before". These are people who have probably watched Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Souness, Dalglish etc play. Going on like Naby Keita is on another level to anything theyve seen. Just embarrassing.

Similar with Thiago really. I said it at the time he signed and I'll say it again. Hes a very good player and a great passer, but will have problems in a 6. Sides will get after him, and he wint impact the game higher up the pitch.

I saw 4 or 5 fouls today, he was lucky not to be sent off, and wont be getting away with it much longer. I'm sure refs look at stats. He still got dribbled past regularly as well.

He needs to play in the 10 role and have the onus to start shouldering some of the creative burden. Hamann was right about him. Its pretty ut ineffective and sides setting up in a "low block" are not in the least bit worried about him wracking up his side ways passing stats.

They are all hitting 30 at the same time too.

Compounded by signing another 29 year old 1 paced player in Thiago.

Its funny this world class player hasnt won a single game hes started yet isnt it?

A world class player who couldn’t get in the Barca team, disappeared for seasons at Bayern when they weren’t very good in Europe but turned up when they won it and then got a transfer to Liverpool and got branded as the best midfielder in the world. What has he done on the international stage? Nothing. He’s played enough games now and whether he’s looking at the ball or not he hasn’t played a single pass that is anything near what James produces multiple times per match. This was apparent even in the derby game, a half fit James put three golden chances on a plate but Thiago did his one 5 yard offside pass against ten men. They’re not even in the same class of player, there’s been a massive overreaction to him, Bayern weren’t stupid letting him go. As if they’d have let the best midfielder int he world leave for 25 mill.

De Bruyne, Modric, Kroos, Verrati, Fernandes, James, Pogba, they’re all better than this bloke by a mile.

He’s hugely overrated.

Yes. He is overrated but I'd still say hes a very good player. Not world class though, and cant get away with being a 6 in this league.

On the downward slope mind and I'm not sure he justifies the 200k+ p/w wage.

He reminds me a big of Gundogan. Who's also a really good player, never never seems to get the same praise.

It's interesting that Bayern havent missed Thiago have they?

id fully agree - he could have picked up five yellows in the last two games for me. Maybe the need to get this kids in at CB, try to get fabinho and Henderson back in the middle and give him the ten, I think their problems run way deeper than that kind of change, but a sense of normality might change things up for them

If not, they can forget top 4 very very quickly & I dont think there is a club in Europe (possibly barca) who needs it more then them at the moment
