TV Series

It's an absolute jungle out there. We watch so many, but some of the best shows take ages to get off the ground and then there are others which are supposed to be crap or average and end up being very enjoyable.

Snowpiercer comes to mind. Only ended up watching it because the missus was told about it by a friend from work and wanted to see it. Normally I'm the one banging the drum for crap sci-fi in the house but wasn't even particularly bothered watching it myself. It has the lovely Jennifer Connolly in it, so I just said "eff it, we'll have a look" and ended up really liking it. It's wonderful nonsense.

I feel like there's great TV out there I haven't seen because it just never caught the right breaks at the right times, and then see so much garbage based on positive reviews. The OA springs to mind there

Spot on.

Also the word of mouth recommendations on here are usually 100% on the nose too, especially with the foreign language stuff.

Just finished season 1 of The Expanse. Started off a little slow, but once you figure out what's going on, its great. Looking forward to the next few seasons. Not as good as the Battlestar Gallactica remake.

The Method (Netflix) Russian maverick murder detective and his girl protege , some wacko villains and unpleasant murders . It's subtitled but well worth it .

Decided to give this a look because it sounded right up my street.

Only a few episodes in but I'm enjoying it, it's very weird but it hooks you. His assistant though, not finding her at all likeable so far and keep wanting him to ditch her. All the best scenes are him on his own.

I wouldn’t hurry to watch one tbh - Alice in Borderland. ( 8 parts )

Set in present day Tokyo, 99% of the population just vanish, leaving the rest ( who just all happen to be young and attractive) to survive by playing a series of deadly games. The survivors buy themselves days alive by winning the games.

Average at best.
Nooooo I absolutely loved this! deffo worth a go.

I've also just finished Sweet Home (also on Netflix) which is 10 episodes long. Really enjoyed that one in the end as well.
