Chicken grown from animal cells. Yum or no way?

I've not eaten animal products for years and would still feel iffy about lab grown meat. The transition for me was incredibly easy for me (though I'm lucky to live in Edinburgh which has any number of vegan cafes, restaurants, shops ETC)

How long has it been since you went through this transition? Has your body adopted to the change without issues?

Over six years for me sassy. Health wise, I've seen no real difference, my skin got a lot better. I have a physical job and run a marathon every year (plus lots of hiking and swimming). I supplement b12 and iodine just to be on the safe side, but my cholesterol massively dropped as did my blood pressure, and I still eat a lot of junk food. I think the first couple of weeks were tough as I didn't know what I was doing but there's so much out there on youtube now, I've never been more inventive with cooking

I am definitely all for protecting the planets animal kingdom and wish we were doing much better but i can say with absolute confidence that there is no way would i eat something created and grown in a lab by scientists. They are about as reliable and trustworthy as religion tbh.

Have a stroll round a chicken farm and see how much that inspires confidence.

I'd take something grown in clean sterile conditions any day of the week.

Only a matter of time until it's commonplace, imo. It's simply a more efficient way of producing food on a large scale and surely will be cheaper for the consumer in the long run. Is there not a possibility of livestock animals dying out altogether if we don't eat them, though? I can't see the human race doing an awful lot to protect the humble chicken from extinction.
Still need eggs?

I have stopped eating meat before for ethical reasons. However, I never seem to get enough protein from other sources and my iron dropped really low there for a bit. So now I invest on meat that has been raised ethically, try to do my best to purchase from local farms, and also try to eat several vegetarian dishes throughout the week but I wish I could go off meat completely. Although my husband my not like that at all ;)
Spinach, Kale even potatoes are rich in iron. Or you could always swig Guinness from your local. Thats full of iron. Or just eat actual Iron.

How easy was it to transition to plant based mate?
I didn’t find it too difficult but I really enjoyed the cooking side and trying out new things. Also did vegetarian (basically continues eating cheese) for a month or so before going full plant based. I went from eating meat for breakfast lunch and tea some days to not at all and didn’t crave it at all when I stopped. For me it was a lot about not trying to recreate food that you would have normally eat but finding new meals.
