Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

THE RUN-IN

the run in.webp

Duncan Ferguson will be looking for his team to secure promotion before the end of the season but with only three points separating them and Exeter and Crewe, it looks likely to go down to the wire with one team set to miss out. There will be a 4th promoted side from the play-offs but after all the hard work this season, Fylde would feel devastated if they missed out on automatic promotion to League One.

Kidnapping time @maccavennie ?

I hope I don't have to do it on a Sunday mate, I've only had 2 of me 4 roast dinners so it would be a proper inconvenience atm as I can't even reheat it as I've put me mums 3 microwaves in cash converters until Tuesday as I'm due out on a date with Tessa whose just started working down the chippy (been getting loads of free chippy meals this week... RESULT!!!)

Well cosh red card Josh Ferguson with one of them rock hard battered sausages when he pops in for his regular (the fat sod) crafty chippy teas. That'll do as a starter.

Have a word with old Delbert Ali, I hear he’s a whizz with a microwave, his specialty is beans’o’ping so I’ve heard.

AFC Fylde vs Gillingham
1st April 2028

=Gillingham result.webp

It was the final month of the season and six games to play starting with a home tie against 9th placed Gillingham. Mark Morton was out for a week due to blisters on his feet and Tariq Lamptey replaced him. O'Neill played behind Sargent as Josh Ferguson was serving a one match ban. Six minutes in when Sargent chased the ball down the right and crossed towards Henderson but it was cleared to McGavin who hit the shot goal bound and deflected off O'Neil and into the net! But O'Neill was in an offside position, no goal. Lamptey played it to Johnson who cut inside and ran at the Gillingham defence, he lofted the ball out wide to Sargent who crossed to find Henderson with the header and he made it 1-0! Gillingham it the bar in the second half from a free-kick and Fylde scrambled it to safety. Mel Pope came on to replace McGavin who was on a booking and the midfielder hit a pearler from outside the box which swerved straight into the top corner! Tyrone O'Neill was effective playing behind the striker and was tracking back making interceptions in the midfield. Fylde were on course to record an important victory with only stoppage time left. Henderson came close to a second when his shot was saved low at the near post.

AFC Fylde vs Ebbsfleet
8th April 2028

=Ebbsfleet result.webp

Fylde could guarantee themselves a play-off spot with a win over 7th placed Ebbsfleet. O'Neill kept his place behind Sargent after putting in an impressive performance against Gillingham and Morton returned to the side. Mick Wisdom took the corner on 2 minutes, the ball was poorly cleared and Feeney had a shot saved by the keeper but managed to score the rebound! His fifth of the season! Foster threw the ball out to Smith a minute later, he was under pressure so turned back and played it back to Foster but it was hit too heavy and he couldn't get there! A ridiculous own goal from Nathan Smith! Normal service resumed when Wisdom pinged in a free-kick over the wall and put Fylde back in front on 14 minutes. Fylde powered forward with Pope searching out Johnson who sprinted down the right wing and crossed for Sargent but he volleyed over the bar. Zak Dearnley is a player who has caused problems for Fylde over the years and was operating down the left wing but Morton was able to deal with him in the first half. Henderson fed the ball through for Sargent who hit his shot just over the bar. The Fylde faithful encouraged by their new striker but want to see him scoring more goals. Ebbsfleet were playing dangerously with all four midfielders on a booking with 30 minutes to play. Fylde just had to hold their nerve as the game was entering stoppage time. Okoroji threw the ball towards Henderson but Pendlebury intercepted, Ebbsfleet with quick passing tried to carve open an opportunity. Fyle managed to get the ball clear up the field and out for a throw-in to buy them more time. Long ball forward but its picked up by Smith who gets it back to Foster, he pumps it up field and the whistle is blown for a much needed victory for Fylde!

DF: Nathan knows he made a mistake for the equaliser but I don't want him to dwell on it, it's football and it happens. We won which is the most important thing and we defended well in the second half to secure the points. We are close to promotion but it is not sealed yet. I think we can do it if we win our next game and Crewe lose but I think Crewe will keep the pressure on and be hoping we slip up.

For Pope I've done a number on the classic losing my religion

Oh Pope
Is bigger
He's bigger than Crewe, Crewe & Ebbsfleet
The lengths that he will go to, the weirdness of his smile
Oh no I've said too much
He set it up
I thought that I saw him scoring
I thought that the ball would swing
I think I thought I saw Pope's thing

And you just know that the Pope will showboat on Good Friday.

Now I see why GOT's server crashed. All logging in for the crunch game.

Wouldn't be surprised if the mods told @The Penalty Box Dancer that he has to get the season finished tonight because everyone's waiting for the final results.

I reckon he'll do a Jim White on us, put on his best suit and canary yellow tie and wait until transfer deadline day.
