This is why I like 4-3-3. If Gbamin gets fit we will have 5 different types of midfielder competing so we can play horses for courses. Only thing with playing him in the midfield 3 is that leaves us still needing a right winger. Walcott is inconsistent and the rest prefer the left.

Do people not realise in a 4-3-3 you can have a number 10?

It can be easily adapted to a 4312 when you have possession. Or are you talking of usinghim as one of the middle three in a sort of 4213 formation

I think he’ll be used in a 4-3-3 and as one of the front three but with licence to roam. Basically a 4-3-2 plus james.
There’s no way in the world for me he’s turned clubs down to come to us and play in a 4 across midfield helping Coleman out down the right. He will be the focal point. 4-2-3-1 a possibility too but I think he’ll change it depending on availability of players and opposition.

This is how we should play James. Same way Colombia played him in 2014.

He's fine as a RM or RW. But he can open up games when he's a 10 and given freedom.

The stats show him as performing better at RM but he's at Real Madrid - they have the world's best midfielders so he has to play their system. He's not suppose to 'run' the show at Real, like he does for Colombia.

In a 3-4-3 or a 4-4-2 right wing is only position he can play. In a 4-2-3-1 he could play right wing or 10. To be honest I hope Ancelotti mixes it up to keep opponents guessing.

See what the rest of the window brings before we set anything in stone. However it is good to be getting a world class player potentially in the squad buying him in his peak years rather than we he's passed it or still not quite proven.
