Just can’t see Madrid wanting to loan him out with a year left on his deal unless they are truly desperate to get him off their wage bill but then given he’s on around 200k per week, means they would still have to pay a percentage of that because we couldn’t afford that full amount. Also I’m pretty sure other clubs would be willing to offer them cash for him.

I call BS on the loan shout.
It will be like the Barry loan, we'll likely pay a fee but it will be less than it is now.

Have considered talksport a trash source for some time now. However they broke this news first when we had the embargo a couple days back so they might have an insider on this one. Loan with the option to buy after his contract ends would be fantastic.

Not sure how the Barry deal worked mate. So we pay an additional loan fee?

Makes not much sense from Madrid’s POV I’m certain they would easily get around the £25m quoted for him from other clubs.

I'm guessing that we take him on loan for this year, pay his wages, and when it comes to the end of his contract we'd be obligated to pay a certain fee which will be less than what we'd pay now. It would be the only way Real would let us have him on loan and we'd pay less overall.

Also us having him on loan for this year means we have more leeway on FFP for this year.

Or I could be chatting wham but thats how I see it.

Fair enough. Be a strange one from their POV though as I genuinely believe they could get exactly what they want for him this window.

I still believe it’ll be a permanent deal outright.

Yeah, not sure what they'll do about wages though because he was taking a paycut to come to us so I'd imagine it means we'd be paying more wages?

A loan takes a bit of the shine off the signing but it does make sense as long as we do actually sign him at the end of the loan.

It won't be a loan in my opinion, but if it was and he did well would Everton touch him enough not to p-off elsewhere on a free?
