25th January 1964 Roy Vernon's penalty away to Leeds secures a replay in the FA Cup after Alex Scott's penalty had been saved by Gary Sprake, only for the referee to adjudge he had moved early and ordered the kick to be retaken! It was in the last minute to make it 1-1 my late father and older brother told me it was Alex Scott who had taken them successfully when Roy was injured in the previous round who missed the first pen, Roy just snached the ball off him as he went to try again, and rammed it home to get the replay which we won -
A typical send the goalkeeper the wrong way Vernon pen keeping us in the cup -

I bid for this programme on some auction site a few years back. But was well priced out of the running. This programme in good condition is valued at about £1000 (top end retail). The wife would kill me if I paid that amount for a programme.
At the time I would have paid up to about £300 to own one. But it sold for about £800..... It's a great piece of Everton and football history.
Great stuff......Joey66.....
