ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I think we need to look at the bigger picture here. This is a societal issue. The scenes last night were disgusting but let's not kid ourselves that this is restricted to Liverpool as a geographical location or the RS.

This Country has an issue with selfish people, who consume vast amounts of alcohol and drugs especially at the weekend and cause absolute havoc right across the Country.

Go to any A&E at the weekend and you will see the same thing. Hordes of inebriated individuals, high on legal and illegal drugs abusing the very people who are trying to help them. A decade of austerity and politicians encouraging selfishness has meant the Police have completely lost control of the streets.

Look at the Met Police looking to engage with people attending illegal street parties. The terrifying thing is that with the double whammy of COVID and Brexit things are likely to get much worse.

As I said the scenes last night were disgusting but sadly they are not isolated. As a nation we need to start getting our priorities right before it is too late.
deflect
(dɪflekt )

Word forms: deflects , deflecting , deflected
1. VERB

If you deflect something such as criticism or attention, you act in a way that prevents it from being directed towards you or affecting you.
He'd changed his name to deflect accusations of nepotism. [VERB noun]
It's a maneuver to deflect the attention of the people from what is really happening. [VERB noun +from]

Synonyms: distract, divert, sidetrack, draw away More Synonyms of deflect

I think also the premier league need to hold a degree of responsibility for these scenes. They were warned and this scenario was spoken about, but they chose to ignore it. I'm not from the city, but in my opinion, the PL essentially authorised the activities of liverpool fans over the last 48 hours.

They, along with other authorities, have had a helping hand in putting my fellow evertonians and the wider liverpool community (blue, red or otherwise) at severe risk of a sharp rise in COVID cases.

Please everyone, stay as safe as you can!

Ashamed of nothing.

Within ANY set of supporters there will be a minority of utter scumbags. God knows we have our share of these individuals.
The fact is though that although the bellwhifs who were directly responsible for causing havoc during their 'celebrations' may be in the minority, the huge majority that were laughing, cheering them on and filming on their phones are just as guilty by default.
I'm sick of hearing from kopites that "it was just a few kids" being irresponsible.
I know that on the occasions that I have seen a few kids acting like morons at Everton gatherings, there have always been plenty of blues willing to call them out and put a stop to their behaviours.
They keep harping on about those responsible being a 'tiny minority' It's just not true. Every 'fan' that attended those gatherings and stood by doing nothing to prevent the havoc is just as guilty as the idiot firing the rockets. Their fanbase as a whole is beyond contempt.

You know that despite the last few days they'll still put a parade on for these vermin and the media will be gushing in their praise of der red men and their gr8 support. Look at their track record and yet it's still a sickly love in with them.

Also see that "ollie" holt was running his mouth on twitter. Impartial journalism aye.
Trying to troll people talking about coronavirus withe the footy 'banter' of a 12 year old, for someone who seems to be desperate to be taken seriously he is a very odd creature

Was in the city centre and the height of lock down and saw everyone behaving impeccably and doing so in good spirits giving smiles an thumbs up to supermarket staff, the clapping for the NHS was emotional and heartfelt from a city that had rejected cruel tory cuts, and in general it made me feel really proud.

But of course they had to make us all look like a pack of scruffy tits, because of its them. I'm also sick of this tiny minority crap, granted every red in my various timelines celebrated at home or in gardens, but that is not a tiny minority that rocked it wasn't a tiny minority that smashed up city's coach, or caused murder in Athens, it wasn't a tiny minority that put their own success before combating racism. You can't solve a problem unless you admit you have one, and their marketing team and media will not allow them to admit a throw in should have gone against them, let alone a social issue that may cost lives
It 'confuses' me how this tiny minority have been able to continuously over the past few decades cause mayhem where ever they are or go. So is it really so tiny?

Even if it is a small group like they claim, the majority have took no ownership of the situation and stopped that their reputation isn't tarred. Why? They're complicit.

We've all heard them arguments such as the club can't take responsibility, it's not RS fans but yobs, we're being targeted or the laughable it's someone else.

You're completely right about not being able to solve a problem if you don't acknowledge that you have one and they're unable to do that; they are single-minded.

They can cry that it's tarring them all with the same brush but their reputation has been built by them just like Chelsea, Millwall or Leeds built their own.

If they don't like the reputation that their minority are causing, well they could stamp it out... but they won't.
