ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

short memories of fans given it was only a couple of years ago they spent more in 12 mo the than anyone in the history of football ever has and broke the world record in two positions whilst adding over 100 million pounds worth of midfielders on top of that.

The issue is they've blitzed the league in terms of wages d also agents fees. Also the official figures they give, at both ends are a load of rubbish, so while net spend looks low, it's actually much higher.

There's no conspiracy, they've done a Leeds.

Net spend wise tho, they hardly spend anything.

If Barca didnt overpay for Coutinho they would be in big trouble at this point.

In fairness, if they didn't they just wouldn't have bought Alisson and VVD and probably been kicking around 4-6th in the league. Some people cheer when they sell players on, but the opposite is true. We are lucky they didn't get big money for Salah when they had the chance.

Liverpool's front three are clearly very good, but Mane is 28, Salah is 28 this month and they both rely on pace to an extent. Firminho is 29 later this year too, so they are all likely to start declining at the same time/rate. Mane and Salah will both be going to the AFCON in January next year as well.

With a bit of luck this is the season they start to go downhill. If the rumours about them being low on money are true, which they likely are due to the recent pay cuts at the Red Sox then I can't see them signing anyone for big money.

I think there’s been some very short term decisions that they’ve had success out of but ultimately Klopp will either have to commit to a refresh soon or leave his successor to do it with less than favourable conditions.

I think Klopp saw a chance to become a hero (which he has) and deliver that first title and through huge spending and probably drug use they’ve finally done it. If he (and his special drink) exit stage right and all of a sudden Mane and Salah aren’t quite the best players in the world anymore the new boss would be looking at being unable to shift them and still having to pay astronomical wages.

To win 2 games out of 9?
I think they will manage that, mate.

Sounds easy on paper, but it all comes down to how teams come out the blocks, 1-2 wobbles and panic will set in, especially as City and Spurs will be back up to full strength.

Looking at the list, if we turn up for once, go at them and end the hoodoo and City pick up 6 points from Arsenal and Burnley, suddenly the gap drops to 19. City have the harder game 3 days later at Chelsea but the vermin play Palace the night before, who have previous for upsetting them.

It’s extremely hypothetical but not completely out of the question to think that by the time they play each other on July 1st City could be playing to cut the gap to 13 points with 6 to play

Yes thats about it. Klopp's stock had fallen a fair bit as well. Ended up mid table with Dortmund in his final season and they've never really been the same since (or it's taken years to recover). He will be a hard man to follow.

You'd also have to say, he would be perfectly suited to Bayern and probably make them a powerhouse. He will jump as well, even if Liverpools team is miles better, Bayern are a far far bigger club than Liverpool and once the job gets offered he will be off in a flash.
