It was an unfortunate incident. But Son knew what he was doing and was unprepared for the consequences.

However the way your lot went about crying about what a good boy he is and lodging appeals while Gomes was crocked for 3 months left a really sour taste. A load of classless w@nkers at your club.

He saw red mist and deliberately tripped him from behind, honestly on my weekend games, I'd never do that to another player. Saw my arse over the defence of Son despite a simple google search showing he's known for it. Aurier had him covered too.

I do understand your anger/disappointment at Gomes getting injured but because it was only a trip it was correctly rescinded to a yellow card meaning that there was every right to appeal the red.

The appeal was tasteless, given the fact Spurs knew the damage Son had caused and by a foul which had no intent to win the ball from behind. He goes to ground and takes his foot - this is a fact and can be watched back on various youtube clips of the incident.

A 'trip' is a more commonly used expression when a player stays on his feet (thus has more control of his action by being upright), clips another players foot to 'trip him up', an take a booking. I've never seen a player injured by such an innocuous trip. Watch replays of Sons tackle and that's not what he did. Digne saw it correctly at the time and was furious. It was incorrectly rescinded in my view - note the panels conclusion wasn't even unanimous.

We also had Spurs letting Son lead them out for warm up in champs league. Why? It was pathetic and I'd be disappointed if Everton did that for a player who'd clearly done wrong. If he was prepared to play and didn't want the tackle on his mind, why make the next game anything other than routine. Unless they did it to further this idea that, 'he's not that type of player', something they knew the media would lap up.

Again, that's your opinions and my opinion would be that the majority view of non Everton fans would think Son is no more of a dirty player than most other players?

My opinion is based on what happened. It's not the same as surmising what the opinions are of this mythical majority of fans think of the player generally.

I know Spurs fans who conceded he's a dirty player after the Rudiger red card.

Anyone who takes the time to actually google his incidents for 5 minutes probably will be swayed.

Videos can be be edited to make anyone look good or bad in any way, look at Sigurdsson for example, he's was edited to make him look great, most of us at Spurs had the opinion that he wasn't very good.
I told Spurs fans I drink with before or after games that people on here think that Son is a dirty player, they honestly thought I was getting em at at but when I insisted it was true, they said those people must be nuts?
Opinions, we all have em. At least it makes the world less boring.

Dont think he is dirty, as in he isnt consistently at it. But he does seem to have a short fuse, and when its blown, he has little control over his actions. Which is exactly what happened with Gomes.

And the same happened a few months later with the flick out against the Chelsea player and I'm sure he has learned not to do that anymore. He has played hundreds of top flight football games, I would hazard a guess that he hasn't been sent off more than 3 times (including the rescinded red card,) and would guess he gets booked a maximum of 5 games a season (not just fouls.)

As I said a few posts ago, I understand that some got upset that your player accidentally got injured but the over action on here (only) was way OTT in my opinion.

The reaction was as much to do with the outpouring of support for Son, "hes not that type of player", etc etc, when as you have acknowledged, he is EXACTLY that sort of player.

Sure, he didnt set out to break our player, but his action was premeditated, vindictive, and uncontrolled.

I agree but then all top level players will at some time get riled up and do those things but that doesn't make them all Animals/a disgrace etc.

In popularity, Son is the Asian equivalent of David Beckham and nobody called Beckham a dirty player after he reacted by flicking he's leg out against the Argentinian.

That was slightly different, and you know it.

Controlled aggression is a brilliant part of good football teams, you have had some belters at your place down the years. Uncontrolled petulance is a danger to your fellow players.

edit. And the reaction to Beckham being sent off was a bit different to what Son got.

edit 2. And I never said Son was a dirty player. I actually said he wasnt.

I agree, he was petulant but on here he's been made the equivalent of an attacking Norman Hunter.
Anyway, like others, ive given my opinion and it is a lot different to a lot of Evertonians, so to stop us going around in circles, I will leave it there.
