I'm not convinced we'll see as many cases of legal action as people seem to suggest. I'm not convinced courts would side with clubs in these circumstances either.

There is no precedent for this.

The teams relegated have a very clear case. You can never pre judge legalism but their case seems overwhelming to me, hence why they are doing it.

Problem is even if France relegate teams in the bottom 3 - it wont work here as Villa have a game in hand and would put in a big legal challenge.

Its either play on or null and void - however no doubt the scum will try make 1st place count but none others.

Exactly and the money involved in the PL is astronomical. French teams do not lose over £100 million for relegation and have players on massive wages in the 2nd division. Lyon are 8 points of CL football with 12 games to go, they could have to sell their best players if they miss out - they will challenge that!

The fact that some teams have played a game less is telling to. Someone is going to have to decide whether they win, lose or draw that game!

That last bit refer to your dating life?
Being objective if them being gifted a title they haven't earned stops a ridiculous plan that will kill thousands of people as a knock on result, then it's a price worth paying. Unfortunately I don't think it does.
O
Oh yes, a Liverpool fan at work is losing it. A few quotes

'so, if they do decide to continue the season at some point, and we win the league still, would that still be an * even though we only need to win 2 more games?'

'yes but as a rival fan, would you accept that or still say it's not a proper title win i.e. Liverpool can;t win whatever happens lol'

'there will always be something people moan about if we won the league, before all this it was VAR lol, 25 points though come on, you would be pig sick if that was UTD'

Premier league is big business across the world.

I can see the season getting finished behind closed doors at St Georges Park.

Money rules the day, the clubs don't want to pay money back and they want the last chunk of tv cash to pay bills etc etc

The Premier league wants to complete its commitments to commercial partners.

The government will cut a deal for this to go ahead but games shown on ITV and they will have to use BT or Sky's coverage amd advertise there services. Then it will be spun as Johnson brings Premier League football back to terresiatial tv and make out he is the peoples champion.

I'd just award them the title and prepare for new season.

Problem with this is Leeds will then start legal action as a precedent has been set, the knock on from that would be West Brom launching legal action as they can still catch Leeds .... and on and on it goes. Null and void with no champions and no relegation is the only option which negates legal action.

I don't think "null and void" would totally negate the possibility of legal action but if I was the the EPL/FA's legal adviser I'd be saying its certainly the easiest position to defend if anyone was brave enough to do it.

The PL would get sued if they relegate the clubs without finishing the season (unless they pay massively for those clubs to agree to it - how long did it take Villa to come back up to risk that?). If you can't have relegation then it has to be voided. If you void a season you can't have a champion. Simple.

He did say they should be awarded the title though, but I don't think he realises if you award them the title today they will en-masse head for Anfield to celebrate. No different than playing the games.

I would like the authorities to come out and say we'll award you the title but if just one group of 10 or so people is seen celebrating then it will be taken away just for the giggles

Think I'd wear RS shirt along with nine of my mates on that basis just for the giggles.lol

The League Committee today said this is what they ll do but it means Lyon has no European Football, Saint Etienne who are in french Cup Final v PSG does'nt get opportunity to play or Europe, Toulouse already threatening court etc

PSG have made no announcement and no "news" on tv or internet of what has been announced as no one cares about it with over 24 thousand dead here from Covid

The only sensible thing to do it void the whole thing and start again when it's safe and sensible. Can't believe there's actually discussion about it.
Totally agree.

Can't have teams losing home advantage either.
Like we had a season under Koeman when we were boss at home and utter gash away. Home games for teams are vital.

One owner says they are determined to finish the season, as most clubs will go bust if they don't.

On Skysports now.

So unless the Government forces them not to play.. they will finish it
