Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

So who gets the CL qualification spots and EL spots? And what happens to the CL/PL TV money?

It’ll be the same teams as last year with regards to Europe....Leicester will miss out on CL and again, Spurs will get a massive reprieve and despite sitting menacingly in the table with a real possibility of the Europa Lge as a minimum due to our easy run in, Everton will miss out again.

We just have to accept it and get on with it though. Only idiots would start crying about it right now.

Idiots and Kopites.

(happen they are one and the same thing)

The clubs threatening legal action need to give their heads a wobble. Sometimes things need to be done for the greater good - the fairest way is to reset as if nothing happened rather than try and engineer a final outcome when nothing had yet been decided. Sad for those teams that have had a good season but these are extraordinary times.

This is not to mention the fact that when can you have celebrations, you think as soon as a team wins something people are just going to stay at home and clap. Even as things start to return to more normal ways you don't really want to promote mass hugging and kissing.

Nevermind saving this season we need to be hoping we can save next season.

with the fa announcement yesterday clubs seeking compensation has already started. Just heard on TS news that South Shields want compensating for lost revenue on remaining games of the season - They are 12 points clear at top of the league.

Force Majeure surely.

Anyone have an athletic sub for the rest of this?

Can't copy and paste as its supposed to be behind a paywall – though you can sign up for free for 90 days.

But essentially says that some owners think the Premier League looks tone-deaf trying to make things happen in the current climate because it is only a game. Some chairmen have suggested that the league should be using the delay until April to negotiate with broadcasters over the size of any rebate – if they're demanding TV money back, therefore allowing them to null and void.

Doesn't say anything about a minority – less than the 14 needed to confirm a null and void season, so guessing its pretty close on who wants to cancel and who doesn't

Would Bury get reinstated into the Football league if they voided this season ?

it's been a bit of a nightmare for a few sports hasn't it? They've had chelsea with a transfer ban, which didn't really count anyway if the league will be cancelled, you've got city banned from europe, which they're going to have to find out who replaces them. Bury like you said who need to be replaced by a team in the league below, so now they've got to decide who they are.

In the rugby union you've got saracens being demoted, they've got to decide who will replace them. All in a year where there was supposed to be the Olympics, the Euros spread all over Europe and the T20 cricket world cups.

It is one of the last things to worry about of course, but it couldn't have happened in a tougher year for these sports.
