Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

This pandemic could go on for a very, VERY long time and frankly football doesn't even matter in the grand scheme of things right now.

However, the longer this all drags on, it becomes more and more obvious that the only way forward is to either void the season or just hand the title to the leaders of each respective league, stopping relegation and promotion. The last thing that the vast majority of football fans want to see when things finally get back to normal is the conclusion to a competition that we stopped playing three or four months earlier. Everyone other then a handful of clubs, their supporters, the usual collection of weirdos in the media and greedy gambling companies will want a fresh start. It actually goes beyond being just another season when we finally get back to normality, it will be hugely symbolic to football fans everywhere and a chance heel and begin again. I'm sorry, but the hurt feelings of the handful of clubs and their acolytes shouldn't stand in the way of that.

Pandemics end when the virus doesn't have enough susceptible people to infect.

"If the virus comes into contact with another person but that person isn't susceptible to the disease, then that chain of transmission is snuffed out. If one person infects two, those people together infect four and so on, and eventually, the virus runs out of susceptible people to infect, said Joshua Epstein, a professor of epidemiology at New York University. "What happens typically is that enough people get the bug that there just aren't enough susceptible people to keep the chain going."

Lets hope that chain ends sooner rather than later. Social distancing then should help. Idiots going out and doing stuff anyway and ignoring it are literally costing lives.

thats why the max figure of 80% is what it is, it runs out of steam and potential victims and can't stretch across the barriers to where the uninfected are.

Don't have a problem with then delaying the decision lots of money at stake. For selfish reasons i hope it is voided. However really dont understand the view of shortening or delaying ext season to finish this one. Surely you get to the point of no return and then the priortery after health and safety becomes the next season

Personally can’t see this season playing out. I see no reason as to why another season should be ruined by stalling it. Better off playing it safe and cancelling this season before they try to force the issue too soon and more people end up infected. And I’d say that even if the RS weren’t about to walk to the league. If they’re as good as they claim they'll win it next year anyway.

Always had a soft spot for Zwekapin United so really hoping they can tear up the form book tonight. U-N-I, T-E-D, Zwekapin United are the team for me...

Zwekapin are shyt laaaar, havent won nothin since 1986. Yangon United are the best - "17 TIMES WE'VE WON THE TITLE LAD! 17 TIMES!!! FOREVER IN OUR SHADOW! ELLO ELLO, ORANGE-WHITE SHYT, ORANGE-WHITE SHYT"

God I've become one of them.... I do apologise.

Great place is Yangon, I never knew they had a footy team.
A couple of good golf courses there with pretty female caddies though.

There's really no other option than to void the premier league. If people are only being allowed out for essential things now, I fail to see how people who are already millionaires need to actually go out and play games. Giving Liverpool the title would create too much confusion for clubs in promotion places in the lower leagues and it would also be a hollow victory for the RS. The moron in the Echo at the weekend who actually thought the season is going to continue is badly deluded. As somebody said the anger from the public that emergency resources were being pointlessly wasted for football matches would create a toxic situation. Nobody is going to care about a Everton v Liverpool match behind closed doors, it's basically a training game. not a serious game for the title. I don't know why they just don't void it.
It is sad to say, but you are right. There is no other option, it must be voided. The other points you riase are also very valid, unnecessary confusion, hollow victory, moronic delusion but most important of all your points is that no one actually cares. Enough is enough, void it, void it now.
