Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

Why is it not relevant?
Because it has nothing to do with them not having a valid contract and doesn't change that situation at all. It's a moot point.

We should let these players know that they're expected to stick around at clubs past the expiry of their contract because @Keiran doesn't think they're starters for their clubs so it doesn't matter if they're made to work for an employer out of contract.

Nevermind any of the insurance and legal implications, none of that matters because Willian said he will play past his contract so now @Keiran says all of the players out of contract should be made to stay beyond their contracts.

That's how ridiculous your arguments are.

Does the recent announcement, from arguably the most high profile player that this applies to, stating they’d be happy to play past that date, change your opinion at all in terms of what is likely to happen?
Not one bit.

Why would one player's decision apply to the entire group out of contract?

So, so desperate here @Keiran

I haven't swerved mentioning them, I've very clearly mentioned 10 players in that post, did I not?

I've also mentioned Pedro, Silva, Vertonghen in previous posts on the subject. Not so hot on the reading, eh Foot Long?

Voiding the season at any point, whether it's pre or post June 30th put's lower league clubs at risk who rely on that matchday revenue throughout the season, who would certainly lose money but may also have to refund shirt and stadia sponsors, as well as fans who've pre-paid and been short-changed. At those times, there isn't going to be a government bail out for Football clubs that are already in the mire and have been for quite some time (much to the shame of the FA, but that's a separate issue). We've already seen a number of great clubs go to the wall in recent years, voiding at any time would be utterly catastrophic for lower league clubs.

This point seems to be missed on certain individuals who only care about voiding for one reason and one reason only, but aren't so forthcoming with it for some reason. Baffling, but there you go.
Why in the midst of all this chaos and death are you still banging on about finishing the premier league. Who gives a toss?

That’s not my argument. Perhaps you should clarify in future before jumping the gun because I’ve never once said that all players should be made to stay beyond their contracts. That’s a total misrepresentation of what I said.

All I’ve said is that in my opinion most, like Willian, will be happy to sign a short term extension to the end of the season. For those few that choose not to, clubs won’t be massively inconvenienced as the vast majority haven’t participated in the majority of their clubs games anyway.

What are the insurance implications, mate?

No, it’s a very simple question and you’ve been either unable or unwilling to answer. I’m genuinely trying to understand your point of view.

What problems would you see in delaying the transfer window to align with the delayed playing season?

Lost earnings potential from all the players that would be forced to stay on at their current wage past the end of the it contract instead of having the opportunity to negotiate for higher wages on a new contract beginning after their current contract expires June 30th opens up the league's to a lot of law suits from the players.

Or do you think players will be happy to have lost a month or two of possibly higher wages just to see Liverpool win the league?

It's easy to say there's no problems with indefinitely extending the league when you refuse to even consider any.

I didn’t say it would apply to the rest of the group. I asked not stated, if one players decision was likely a pre-cursor to what other players may think in the situation. You said no, that’s fine.

Again, really must read fully and ensure you comprehend before responding.

And I'm saying your assumptions based on the word of one player aren't worth a thing.

What if Willian is the only one to take this stance? Given he's the only one to come out with anything like this that's a far more likely assumption than yours assuming every player, or most, will fall in line behind what Willian says.

Insurance implications are simple. They're insured for the life of their contract. Clubs aren't going to want to pay for insurance for players not under official contract with them and they can't play without insurance.

Nor are they going to want to continue paying insurance for players they want to leave the club.

By the exact same logic, in amidst all this chaos and death, why are you responding to me banging on about finishing the Premier League?

Why are people discussing F1, discussing Motown, playing word association, discussing transfer rumours, Mason Holgate, Oumar Niasse, chatting about Cricket, Rugby and god knows what else?

How can they do all that at a time like this, eh?

Willian's probably angling for a new contract at Chelsea. Doesn't mean any of the other players out of contract are thinking about doing the same with their current clubs.

So, in the midst of all this chaos and death, exactly why are you banging on about finishing the Premier League? Answers on a postcard, please.
