Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

I haven't swerved mentioning them, I've very clearly mentioned 10 players in that post, did I not?

I've also mentioned Pedro, Silva, Vertonghen in previous posts on the subject. Not so hot on the reading, eh Foot Long?

Voiding the season at any point, whether it's pre or post June 30th put's lower league clubs at risk who rely on that matchday revenue throughout the season, who would certainly lose money but may also have to refund shirt and stadia sponsors, as well as fans who've pre-paid and been short-changed. At those times, there isn't going to be a government bail out for Football clubs. We've already seen a number of clubs go to the wall in recent years, voiding at any time would be utterly catastrophic for lower league clubs.

This point seems to be missed on certain individuals who only care about voiding for one reason and one reason only, but aren't so forthcoming with it for some reason. Baffling, but there you go.

You never mentioned them in the quote I replied to, despite listing plenty of others......spare me your tedious back catalogue lad, I’ll take your word for it.

What ‘certain people’ seem to be missing when it comes to the missed revenue, is that if the season can finish before or maybe just after June 30th, there won’t be any lost sponsorship revenue.

Only, if like the barmy Kopites are trying to suggest we ruin 2 seasons by trying to finish this one, by somehow playing this season’s games during next season’s time, then where’s the fiscal gain there lad? As the loss of revenue from the new season is balanced out by the loss of revenue from the last. Back to the drawing board for you.

It either finishes before (or possibly and highly unlikely imo, just after) or it’s skipped. That’s literally it.

You could be right, wouldn’t argue with anyone on that.

My only argument with this has been that the voiding of the season causes a much greater headache for leagues and clubs at all levels, than a lengthy delay ever would. And resuming the season when it’s safe to do so is the fairest and most appropriate way forward for all clubs.

At some point, realistically, too long a delay would inevitably result in the voiding of the league. But at what point we reach that, who can say right now? Too many variables at play.

IMO the only thing getting cancelled is the league cup next year, maybe the FA cup.

they are going to squeeze these matches in wherever they can even if it finishes in December, maybe take a week off and roll right into the next season.
No chance at all the seasons will be so close together.

It'll deffo reach a conclusion, I reckon the league will end around end of July and new season start mid-September.

Also a possibility, sure.

Will mean the cancellation or shortening of 3 or 4 International breaks over the subsequent 12 months to make back that time, but no reason why it couldn’t immediately return the Football calendar to finishing in May for the 20/21 season if that was deemed a sufficient priority by the authorities.

The last day of June .... what are you not understanding ?

So you are of the opinion the season won’t go 1 day past the 30th June? Or is there some flexibility?
I’m purely basing this on the contractual situation of the players and the legal mine field that could follow by insisting the season continues past that date.

I can assure you that the season wont be finished on the 30th June.

I can say that with complete faith.

Ive heard the FA are looking at changing the date of the 30th August to the 30th June so Liverpool can win the title.

If the new June date in August doesn't work, they can change September to July or even October to pre season June.

Whatever it takes for the title to be won they'll do it no problem at all.

Its less about Liverpool, no one would object if they were called champs and more OMG we spent all the TV money.
