Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

UEFA want all major leagues to restart together and finish by June 30. How is that going to happen when your stilk getting this. Whenever a team comes back to training and this happens, is it everyone back in isolation?

"Europe’s governing body also want the Champions League and Europa League to be completed and believe all leagues across Europe should restart at the same time."

Are these messing hahaha

Probably playing a bit of a legal game as well. If they call it all off now and things improve slightly (however unlikely) then the lawsuits will all be about how UEFA forced the premier league to abandon earlier than was necessary. By moving the euros and giving a clear window I think they’re saying ‘we gave you every chance but it didn’t happen because of forces outside of our control not because we cancelled it’.

If they want it all wrapped up by June 30th, even if they played a game every weekend and one in mid week they’d still need 4 weeks minimum to play 9 games. So they’d have to start at the latest end of May. Players would either need to have stayed fit that whole period and be ready to go or need a few weeks training which would mean a middle of May start at the earliest. That’s assuming that no one on any team in the PL gets the virus at any point in all of this and that the pandemic has decreased enough to be confident enough to take a call probably at the start of May that the games will be on by the start of June.

That timeframe will prove impossible. We aren't anywhere near the peak and with a massive recession coming. With talk of power stations being undermanned due to this virus and the internet struggling to cope with all the people being at home. NHS on its knees due to Tory austerity. Finishing the season won't be on anyone's radar.
Kieran and Havrey will just crying into the void.

Gonna be more about when football can even start again never mind competitions etc I wonder if they might even start with some kind of charity TV matches..

They'll compromise in the end. Liverpool, West Brom and everyone else who're top of their respective league's will be crowned as "champions" and will receive a trophy of some sort but there will be no relegation or promotions. That way there is closure of some sort. I doubt there will be European football next season even if the virus calms anyway and everyone will focus on domestic football before returning to normal the following year.

There is absolutely no way they will want to continue this season three or four months down the line. To finish the season would take the minimum of six week if we include the playoffs and this whole situation is likely to get worse before it gets better so who knows when we'd even be able to play those games.

The TV people who have an unhealthy amount of power in all this, will just want a fresh start after a really long gap and tbh most fans will too. I've seen a few RS fans saying that sky and the league will be afraid of clubs like them and Leeds ect suing them. Frankly I think they'd be far more afraid of the countless list of players and refs who'd sue if they and their families got put at risk just so the season could be completed.
