Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

The league on my playstation is still in progress. There are 38 years of history since it started as a subbuteo league as a kid.

Villa currently top, closely followed by Notts F and Coventry (last year's champions) who are finding a run of form. Traditional power houses - Everton, Wolves, Stoke and Derby all mid tableish. The rs spent a year in the league last season just to be relegated.

I could keep you up to date with progress and detail for the cost of sky subscription lol
Do you do half season tickets ?

There are reports of this summer's euros certain to be cancelled - fairly obvious tbh and the season finished late summer

With the Qatar World Cup Winter 2022, they could just work backwards and have a calendar season 2021 and a calendar season 2022.

Liverpool likely to be crowned champions even if this season is abandoned as there's no appetite amongst their distant rivals to deny them the title. Relegation and promotion is far more problematic as is European qualification etc which possibly necessitates this season finishing at some time before the next starts.

Loads of complications with some players contracts ending in June and the integrity of any competition massively compromised by such an extended break - so alternatives reportedly being discussed for promotion/relegation and European qualification if the season has to be abandoned without any restart.

Also transfer windows and how that might alter playing squads in the break.

Yeah will be shocked if one way or another Liverpool aren't crowned champions... In any other season rivals could have debated it, but the points gap is massive...

The question is how you sort Promotion/relegation/final European spots...

FA Cup will be abandoned for sure..

Euro 2020 postponed for 1 year..

Champions league could be finished out over 2 weeks in the summer, but only if Domestic leagues are abandoned...

....I thought I was the only one! Might be tempted to start up again, seeing as I am now basically unemployed thanks to COVID-19. Back in my teen years, in 12 FIFA seasons:

Everton won the league once and the FA Cup twice
Portsmouth won the league once
Blackburn finished third and reached the Champions League semis
Sheffield Utd won the UEFA Cup (and Super Cup) - could still happen in 2021?
Wigan won the League Cup and got into Europe
Tottenham were relegated
Newcastle were relegated (3 years before it actually happened the 1st time)
Man City won the league in the 12th season..... after beating QPR at home!!!!
The record win was Man Utd 21 (twenty-one), Braga 0 in the 5th season UEFA Cup qualifiers

Teams I played as were decided by coin toss. Except derbies. Screw the RS

In mine, Everton & Wolves are the only teams to be ever present. In an all time league, everton are top followed by wolves, stoke city .

Stoke had a dynasty akin to Man U from the mid 90s to mid 2000s. 10 years ago Derby entered my league and built up and have enjoyed their dynasty. Currently they have Messi and Mbappe playing up top. Stoke have been in the doldrums and lost their wealth, but signing Higuain has given them a renewed run.

All my teams can sign anyone they can afford (if I consider the player would actually want to go there) -apart from everton. They're the real deal even to the extent that I wont play a player if the real player is injured - which is why we struggled this season. There are a few fictional players in the mix too. In my world James Vaughan never got injured after leaving Everton. He's enjoyed a great career for Coventry city, finishing as a league champion last season.

I play as my favoured 8 or so teams (16 teams in my league) - will be the home side if I'm playing one of my own. Theres no bias and I always play to win - even against Everton.

Imagine a marathon runner, in the lead nine miles from the finish, when an act of nature - say, a flood - strikes the trailing runners and knocks them all out of the race. Would the lead runner, nine miles from home, immediately stop running and claim the gold medal? Of course not. If the race wasn't called off, he'd be obliged to finish the course to win a medal. But if the act of nature blocked his way and he too failed to finish, THE RACE WOULD BE NULL AND VOID. The runner doesn't stand around for weeks waiting for the floodwaters to subside before carrying on his run and claiming a medal! It's over. done. Finished. Better luck next time.

Which to me is far more important to far more people. Very little about it in the media though. Seems the Liverpool FC viewpoint dominates their thoughts.

Shock, horror...

Yep, jobs will be lost and gained off the result of Relegation and Promotion... Clubs involved will be hugely affected for years to come by the outcome..

Currently you have 6 PL teams in a relegation battle.. Even mathematically we're not safe..
In the championship, 13 clubs could fairly argue they can minimum finish in the playoff spots..
So legally there is no way to sort that if all remaining fixtures cannot be completed...

Yeah as Davek would say put a cork in it.lol

Surely they have to declare the season null and void, if Liverpool are crowned champions then the three teams in the relegation positions have to go down and the top three in the Championship have to be promoted etc.etc.
If it is OK to declare a winner then it must be OK to declare a loser.

You just no that media cult fc will be handed the league and the rest will be voided.
If karma exists the whole football league system will be abandoned and clubs will have to eat humble pie like we all did in the late 80’s due to our famous cousins .KAGS

Spain going into a 14 day lock from Monday

Who thought it was a good idea to let 3000 roam around our City a few days ago. The Government, Uefa, Joe Anderson and the Cult want hanging.
I’d say it about Everton too if we did the same
Someone just told me there is a marathon in Liverpool tomorrow?
