Potential cancellation of games - Coronavirus

Yeah I agree about not panicking bit, but it’s the family and friends who are old and vulnerable who we may pass it on to we need to think about.
I agree. But me talking personally if I was in a nursing home not knowing about anything suffering dementia I would rather be gone. As I said this is me personally.

Can’t understand the rationale of playing games behind closed doors. Talk of it happening in the PL now. Football exists to entertain, if there’s no spectators, what’s the point of it?

What about if you're 70 odd, living a full independent life and managing your diabetes quite well for example? A very dangerous assumption to assume it only affects those with nothing left to live for.

Also, everyone should go out with some dignity. The way things are in Italy involves people being left to die in hospital corridors because somebody younger has more chance of surviving. Do you want that for a loved one?

There are still milions watching via TV or internet?
They don't count in this respect because if there are no spectators present the game dies. Have a look at the BBC televised womens' league games, no crowds, no atmosphere and dispiriting to watch. You (or me) behind your screen matter little in the great scheme of things, apart from advertisers' revenue. Try closing every ground for good and televise the lot and see how many weeks the game would survive.

My plans to come over for the Bournemouth match are stuffed. Even if the virus panic goes away she's decided we're not going and that's that.
I was planning to fly to Manchester, get the train to Lime St, stay in Liverpool for a few days, train it down to Cornwall for a week, on to London for a week
and then fly back to Melbourne. Can't see much risk in that, but there you go. She must be obeyed. I'm going to bed.

lol

So my local hospital had the 6th death. Based about 2 mins drive away from it is the Camelot offices (National Lottery) who yesterday had a confirmed case but they made all the staff swear to secrecy until it was officially announced a few hours ago today. I'm hearing this 3rd hand but a large company trying to hide it doesn't sit well.

we are all getting tested from Thursday (@non invasive temperature testing )
If your temp is high you get sent home and cannot return until either the HSE gives you clearance or you temp is back down
Full pay while you are out with no effect on sick pay category

Don't necessarily agree with the womens' football thing. They have some fans who go week in week out. That's all you need really. Although you are not wrong with the zero spectators thing, they key to sport for me is you have to have an interest in the background. Caring about the teams, knowing the players etc.

You really can't understand why a fatal virus easily transmitted between people means crowds of tens of thousands is a bad idea?

It's not a footie decision, it's a stop the spread decision

Didn't Arsenal put up a wall of painted on fans and played crowd noises over a speaker when they did up the Clock End at Highbury?

I bet we would get a rubbish artist to do ours...
Some on here could volunteer to record chanting like Pickford out, Pickford out and such like. Don't tempt them.
