Sir Landon Of Donovan

It's not his fault. It's Major League Soccer's. they hold their best players hostage basically. need to get their heads out of their arses and let him make a permanent move. landon's the trophy boy of the US, and they don't want to lose him. MLS is a horrible league. absolute trash.

From what I heard and read, he decided to take a longer break, I mean in fairness, I understand he was looking VERY jaded.

I would like to see him make a move in the Summer, but cant see it really, hes not getting any younger and I hope if hes gonna come, he comes to stay, but either in the Summer or next Jan, after that I dont want him.

Still dreaming of moving Coleman back to RB and putting LD at RW.

Me three. *drools on keyboard*

Although we wouldn't recognize our right side with all that pace. And I'm just imagining Bily and Baines on the left scrambling to keep up and giraffe legs in the middle (Fellaini) loping down the pitch. It would be cracking!!!!!!!!

If it's gonna happen, It will have to be in the summer. And that might mean LD having to put pressure on The Galaxy and the MLS.

If we don't get him in the summer, we seriously have to think about targetting other possibilities.

Oh, and I agree, Coleman/Donovan would be awesome.

yea, Summer, or nothing for me..

Nothing meaning him..

Someone else surly.

It might have to wait until January. If LA puts a run together for the MLS cup again this year - as they should since more than 50% of the teams make the playoffs, he's going to feel obligated to wait until the season is over. Which means he'll be 29 turning 30 (in March 2012). At best he'll do a two year deal with us, then go back to LA after the 2014 World Cup. I'm not as worried about his age because he's an MLS 29 rather than an EPL 29 (seriously, the pace/injury level is just not as bad in MLS), but a short term deal is most realistic and best. It could also be a 1-1.5 year loan deal in all honesty (similar to what Charlie Davies is doing with DC United/Sochaux). That would eliminate the need for an expensive transfer fee we couldn't afford, allow LA to rebuild/play some of it's younger players in a year following a playoff appearance, and have him back post WC hurrah.

But that will definitely be it - summer best, Jan a long shot, and then the dream is over.

EDIT: Although if Everton comes calling in the summer and LD truly wants to go, all bets might be off. He needs to play his ass off in the beginning of the MLS season and at the Gold Cup. Although that might make him that much more attractive to MLS. Catch 22.

With all due respect to Landon Donovan, but I don't think he's worth waiting for, with a risk to miss out all together. We need to strengthen in the summer, and can't allow ourself to take the risk of putting everything on one horse. Although I rate LD immensly, there are other player out there, who could do a job for us.

If he has become such a massive Evertonian, as he tries to make out, I think there's a decision to make for him in the summer. Even if that means going against The Galaxy/MLS. Respect is a two way street and Donovan has been loyal to them, and gave them both a lot. Surely they can't keep on denying him having a final chance, to prove himself in a much bigger league and a club he claims to love?

Couldn't of said it better.

I absolutely don't disagree with you. This would absolutely be my preference as a fan of both teams. But I was just thinking about his league. :P

And yes, if we don't get him, we need to look somewhere else, or Bily gets great in the next few months. I'm not completely unrealistic. :)

Worst comes to worst he comes on loan for 3 months in 2012 and then goes home. Hopefully.

EDIT: And we actually need to offer a deal in the summer to get him to come over. No money, no deal. So, the club has some responsibility in this too.

I think that Landon has let down the entire population of the USA by not signing for us by now, he should hang his head in shame.

I can only like Americans again if he comes for 5m or less in the summer. Over to you, America.
