The fact Brands let such an asset join little old Watford shows what we are up against recruitment wise.

Let? He ended up at Watford for £30m. Can't believe City let him go to Watford. Can't believe Real Madrid let him go to Watford.

Whilst I agree that maybe we’ve had some lacklustre recruitment recently, it might be a bit unfair to blame him going to Watford. I also think it was a bit less than £30million, I thought it was £17million?

He signed bloody Iwobi over him man - add to that having only one right sided winger in the squad he could and should have made a move imo if we couldnt land Zaha.

During the Summer transfer window, at the time we signed Iwobi, had you seen Ismaela Sarr play to be annoyed he signed for Watford and we signed Iwobi?
What I will say is that at least Sarr is, and was at that point, a recognised winger. Iwobi has never really been a specialised winger. It was obvious we needed a proper RW during the summer

Yeh that's very true, won't deny that, just find it funny when people use hindsight to have a dig at Brands.

I bet barely anyone here, especially those in question, had ever even heard of Sarr during the Summer window which they'd have to have to get annoyed we didn't sign him at the time.

I like Iwobi and think Brands has done an ok job.
It’s dangerous to compare club transfers but also easy and understandable. On the flip side, people were fuming when West Ham signed Haller and now look. It’s all relative.

I know Sarr was very highly rated at Rennes at the time and had some hype (both in real life and FIFA- a tool many use now to measure potential )

we need to buying the NEXT sarr/richy is the point, now blowing tens of millions on them now and certainly not on last minute buys in positions we don’t need (sorry Iwobi)

edit: I am aware that richy has worked out VERY well but ffp and all that is gonna snag us if we’re not careful

The jury is put on iwobi he wants to step up in the games he plays and make a good contribution the fans should be shouting get past him

Yeh same with Haller. There's just an annoying amount of hindsight used in arguments and it's silly for me. You can't bash Brands for not signing a player back before you'd even seen him play in my eyes.

Samuel Chuckwueze ;)
