ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Archie, it's not impossible that they're using supliments of some kind. In cycling last season the Dutch team Jumbo something highly successful in the early classics admitted to using diet supplement generally k own as "ketone". Not on banned list.
Henderson, carthorse to sprinter in 2 seasons, I ask you.

I have come to terms with what is about to happen this season and it is probably better it is happening in this long drawn out fashion so we will all be anesthetised by the time it becomes official rather than they triumphed in a dramatic last day finale after a string on nerve wracking weekends like we endured as City hunted them down last season.

But here’s what worries me.

That City team needs a massive overhaul so a period of transition is on the cards there....particularly as Pep will probably call it a day in the next year or two.

United are in such a rut I cannot see them challenging any time soon.

Ditto Chelsea.

So we could well be in for a protracted spell of this dominance.

We may have to step up and do it ourselves....as in 1985.

Well let's just hope that by some miracle the weaknesses amongst the media darlings may work to our advantage and we're able to track them down and compete with them from next season.

And fully agree that it's better we know they've won it now rather than a last-minute controversial overturned penalty decision that wins it for them after Milner's effort deflects off the post, onto the keeper's arse and goes over the line at the Kop End.

But you're talking miniscule improvements with things like Ketones. Xenon gas was the big thing a while ago. Jumbo weren't that successful in the classics, they were a lot better in the big tours (where doping to aid recovery would be much more beneficial).

Every elite sporting organization are sailing as close to the wind as they dare with supplements and performance management. City have that bonkers cryo chamber, Chelsea got investigated for platelet injections to speed recovery, Wenger was convinced Serie A was off the charts in terms of blood doping and there were several footballers who were identified in the Puerto investigation.

The fact is that if Liverpool are running an organized player doping ring then most of the premier league is. It's not complicated or expensive. However, with the amount of times PL players are tested in a year and the bio passport, I'm not convinced its possible. Perhaps one or two players free lance micro dosing, but to not trigger the passport you'd have to use at such a low level the benefit would be negligible.

They can have their title, it will never change the fact they:

- Pushed a wall over, causing 39 deaths and (some of them) seemingly glorify in this
- Drop paving slabs on waiters heads
- Masturbate in a fountain in front of women and children
- Drink fanta at a cup final then get sparked by a 4 foot Spaniard on national TV
- Rob tickets off their own (Athens)
- Make every tragedy in the world about them (YNWA)
- Throw human excrement at unsuspecting away fans below
- CS Gas team busses (and kids)
- Rock ambulances containing a man with a broken leg
- Line the streets to welcome coaches instead of going for a bevy
- Clap at the telly
- Take 14 to West Ham
- And 28 to Newcastle

Athens also saw a large number of ticketless blerts rushing the gates to get in.

City need a massive overhaul? Why? 12 months ago they were the best team to ever play in the Prem, since then they’ve only really lost Kompany. They shot themselves in the foot by not getting a replacement for him. The injury to Sane hindered them too, less so given the competition in that position, but he got them a few points coming off the bench last season. Defense is where they‘ve suffered though. Laporte getting injured, LB injury prone. They won it last year whilst playing Delph or another midfielder (Zinchenko) that could do a job there, a lot of the season, that problem was there last season, they got Angelino who he doesn’t seem to rate. Also the extra pressure of winning the League 3 times on the bounce takes its toll, not many teams have done it. There’s not much wrong with that City team that a CD and a LB won’t solve. Silva will be retiring, Foden will step up. A massive overhaul? We’re not talking Utd of 6-7 years ago here.

Are you annoyed Liverpool aren't getting the credit you think they deserve?

The biggest change from last season to this isn’t actually that they are so much weaker, but that the slight weakening has transformed how teams feel up against them.

Pretty much from the loss to Norwich onwards, a lot more teams decided They could have a go against them.

last year the losses to palace and the couple of others were somewhat freakish.Every chance taken, wonder goals, but not really (wolves aside maybe?) from giving it a proper go.

most teams turned up knowing they’d lost.

yes not replacing Kompany has weakened them; and yes Laporte being out for so long has been a huge dent to them, but seriously they are still way better than every team except the RS, but the fear factor isn’t the same.

They’re perceived as being able to “be got at” and so teams have a go.

at the same time, the RS have got what united had in the 90s going for them. Not that everyone is turning up expecting to lose, but actually that the longer the game goes on, the more they expect Liverpool to get something. The RS believe it, and so do their opposition.

thats a double whammy.

if city get Laporte back and at his top level (he’ll be rusty as hell when he comes back this year) and bring in an improvement next to him (Koulibaly?) that mental advantage will be back.

teams will arrive on their bus with a white flag in hand again.

there’s no way I see a decade of dominance from across the park. A decade of competing at a high level? Sure. But city will definitely be back.

also wouldn’t be surprised if they win the CL this year now they can put all their focus into it.
