Everton FC investigate homophobic chants from own supporters vs Chelsea

Both the club and Kick It Out are working with police after receiving reports of a chant being aimed at Chelsea fans by a small section of the home crowd.

Everton say: "Homophobia has no place within our stadium, our club, our community or our game. The club strongly condemns such behaviour and is carrying out a thorough investigation which will include liaison with Merseyside Police."

Good to see the club taking action to remove this cancer from our fanbase. Really sad that it's spoiled a great performance and great result.

I can tell the club.
It was pretty much the whole of the everton section that is near to the away end at both bullens road and Park end.

I think football has bigger problems than the Chelsea rent boy chant that is mainly aimed at them spending lots of money on blokes with questionable loyalty to the cause.

If memory serves me right, Chelsea Rent Boys was sung a little while after the nice chaps and chapesses in the Lower / Upper Bullens encouraged us to ensure we were claiming all our due benefits by signing on and wishing us a Merry Christmas in the hope that we'd have enough food to eat over the festive season.

While homophobia plainly isn't a good thing, neither is mocking an area of the country less affluent than your own. Unfortunately, there isn't a well known ..phobia to label the Chelsea supporters with.

Fair play to the OP for creating a plainly adversial thread though.
