ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Henry Winter is out of touch with football then. The Daily Telegraph should perhaps look at his credentials because no matter how good Van Dijk was, he wasn't on the same level as Messi. Messi is on the decline and still out on his own for me. The player of his generation.

He used to be my all time favourite but I’m not sure I can ever forgive him for his gutless performance at Mordor last year.

I saw that interview on SSN with one of those Yank owners.

He seems gutted about not owning them, one line that stood out which didn't come out well was " I wish I was still half the owner of a $3 billion football club".

He claims he lost $200 million which seems absurd when he bought the club on a leverage buyout not even using any of his own money.

His son is apparantly the chairman of the Republican Party as well.

I was in a flat today, at least i think it was a flat, there was a this is anfield sign above the front door, so im not sure.

Im auditing a job, and the cretin who lived there was pestering me from the moment i walked in "a mate red or blue".

I said blue, his little face lit up, i see stuff youll never see, first words out of his mouth. Never met him before. I was in madrid yer no, 2nd sentence.

I though here we go again.

He then went on a 20 minute tirade about how bitter blues are, while, without a hint of irony saying how he hopes the new stadium is a white elephant and we end up in the championship, citing man city as an example. When i pointed out man city have been the team of the decade so far, he immediately switched to how everton havent got any fans outside liverpool.

Still dont know his name, but he did remimd me why im glad to be a blue, even now, in this mire, because im not one of them. Even if we go down and they win it all, well never be that.

Which in his case is a 50 odd year old man with a stevie g poster up in his living room living in a 1 bed flat in ellesmere port.

"Ill see things youll never see" yeah mate its called the ellesmere port job centre.

The quirk of fate that made you an Evertonian is the only thing that keeps you going in wilderness times like now. I mean, what a pathetic but telling example this is of what the alternative could have been. Or could it... I like to think that nature would have intervened anyway in a form of natural selection as we are a breed apart in every way, thank God. The latest manifestation comes with the Gods aligning for them... their consistent points gains when playing badly...their demolition processes when playing well...City's up down form and throwing points away like a sailor on shore leave's money... ladyluck intervening... Its all there. Im lucky too though that I faced all this in the 70s/80s..the schooldays mutating to the alehouse or housecalls..their same initial OTT ebullience of "what about my team then, hey?... Hey???...Got it wrapped up havent we? .. pause... Youre in trouble arent yers? " The one reply...."yeah ...then maybe "oh yeah"..the almost tacit agreement till the penny drops with them that theyre confusing you with someone who is actually interested in them. They all do it...some even occasionally with a degree of subtlety, though mostly not. But you get through it because the stomach churning alternative of being one of them is always one step beyond. Vive le difference.
