Unai Emery

He didn't turn us down in the summer of 2016, in fact he made it quite clear he'd be interested in talking to us. Moshiri wanted Koeman though and never seriously considered anyone else whilst Emery ended up getting a far better offer anyway for PSG.

I think he's a very decent manager overall but he belongs in La Liga where there's less diversity. I imagine he'll end up back at Sevilla eventually or maybe he'll go into international management. Replacing Wenger at Arsenal was always going to be a gigantic ask.

Absolutely zero ambition of we don't have him wrapped up by next week.
Its true, in the same way Spurs just went out and got Jose, watch Arsenal go get someone now, while all we will do is release a half arsed statement but stick with the clown who is taking us down, these clubs have ambition, there big clubs, even Leicester went out and got a top manager

Hypothetically, if we were faced with getting Rodgers instead now from Celtic people on here would be saying he's not good enough, ex RS, couldn't even win the league with Suarez etc. Same with Rafael, same with Jose even, people saying he was done etc. Same people want Tim Cahill as manager.

If he couldn’t cut it with that squad, that’s a real concern.

The FSW would be a safer bet IMHO.

My feeling exactly. If he couldn't do it with that squad there's slim chance he can do it with us.

I think the greatest challenge for managers these days is motivating their squads. Players are wealthy from their teens and are made up for life in that respect. The problem with 'having it all' is that you don't want anything else. It kills your desire. How often have we seen the rich and famous turn to drugs?

The most successful managers in the PL happen to be the most charismatic. Emery (much like Silva) is a dour, expressionless bloke. He won't fare well here, despite his fancy name.

He was at Arsenal for a year and a bit though. Its not like he really got a chance to change everything (following on from a manager who had been at the club for twenty odd years)

I'm not totally on his bandwagon or anything but I don't think he should be dismissed out of hand either purely because of what happened at Arsenal in a difficult position and a short amount of time. He has won 3 Europa Leagues and managed at PSG and Arsenal for a reason.

I forgot he was in Russia for a while, that was a weird move for him.

For the 9000th time, Pochettino wouldn’t even contemplate us.

Its funny how managers are judged these days.

Pochettino, just been sacked whilst in 11th place, won nothing in his career, got to a European final last season. = Wouldn't even consider us.

Emery, just been sacked whilst in 8th place, won 3 Europa Leagues, 2 French Leagues, 2 French Cups, got to a European final last season = Not good enough for us.

Makes no sense really.
