Pienaar Signs for Spurs...

It was the spending (loans) they took on... coupled with the massive increase in wages (wage:turnover) that gave them no room to manoeuvre.

Hence O'Neil left.

That £6 million they just spent. That's effectively what they've taken in in player sales - that and any further money will be what they've taken in the rise of TV money this year.

i.e. about another £5million tops.

But still -unless they've suddenly built a 55000 stadium and fill it week in week out - their financial situation's not changed one jot.

But like I've said, this all happened when O'Neil rebuilt a side that finished 16th in the premiership. They spent about/upto £20million each year apart from one season when they spent £45million - problem there was there wasnt a massive income coming in and they gambled on trying to get into the champs league.

BUT - he got them 6th position for 3 seasons after being favourties to get 4th for 2 of them (before tailing off at the end) and a league cup final. O'Neil wanted to push on, saw his key players leaving, wasnt going to get any money to push them on and had enough. You have to break some eggs to make an omelette.

And they havent sold any players yet. Sidwell might be off - but they're already got Kyle Walker on loan, and bought another midifelder.

We have to get rid before we even get LOANS.

Seriously mate he has shown no ambition other than the ambition of going to the club which will give him the most money. He is not leaving for silverware he is leaving for greed. You have a pop at out board for not giving him what he wants and say we are the ones who are showing no ambition however are you going to say the same to the chealsea board. Are they showing no ambition cause they are not giving him what they want. Not saying he is wrong or that he is a snide but again you blaming the club for something that they have to be realistic about and the demands he wanted were unrealistic even chealsea don't think he is worth what he is asking for. I have no grudge against him he saw out his contract, tried his best always and at the end his contract wants even more money. Not showing ambition he is showing greed

With respect mate, and you know i respect your view. He is leaving us to join a club who play Champions League footy. Spurs get less gates than us, and don't have a brand new stadium. They have Arsenal up the road who get 60k a week watching them, not to mention all the competition of other clubs in London, the difference is they have a board who put their money where their mouth is, they have backed Harry with signings and wages.

When we qualified for the Champions League and the two 5th place finishes and FA Cup final appearance, what did our board do? Why didn't we kick on to the next level, like Spurs are appearing to do now? Yes we have signed players like Yak, Billy etc on big money but we sold AJ, McFadden, Lescott etc to help fund these new players.

Pienaar may have wanted a pay day, i would say it is deserved, others would say not, that is their viewpoint and they are entitled. But he hasn't been greedy in my opinion. He will move to a club that isn't afraid to spend to improve, playing Champions League. That should of been Everton post 2005, sadly, and it is because of money, we are a top-middle table side and i'm sorry but with the board we have, we will always be there. There will not be any development, only decline.

having a snoop around ive come up with the following rumours from so called itk's from spurs and chelsea ....

pienaar wants a 15 million contract .chelsea were willing to pay for a 12 million contract , spurs are willing to pay the full 15 million.

chelsea were willing to pay 3 million transfer fee, spurs were not willing to pay more than 2million.

today , apparently everton have now agreed a fee and are letting spurs speak to him again today.
also chelsea have upped there wage offer (no mention of how much)

a continental club (s) are also meant to be in the frame but no bids have been accepted or offered as far as anybody can tell.(maybe rumours made by pienaars reps to up the anti in his favour)

i dont expect him to be in the squad tomorrow , but i cant see anything being done (pienaar in another teams shirt) before tuesday.

Load of bolloxs, thats what it is, anybody that EVER defends Kenwrong after this farce is a KOPITE.

Don't talk out of your arse mate.

Yeah, next time Kenwright offers a player a four year deal at 50k plus a week, I'll be sure to send him hate mail.

Come on now.

I'm upset he's leaving but we did all we could do and that's that. Good luck to him and thank him for his service.
