I rate Bernard, and think he's a great little player. It was a little dig at Dave on his little fishing trip because nearly all the playing staff aren't good enough for Everton fc in his opinion, apart from Silva that is.

I just struggle to see him ever being an effective player based on what he's shown so far.

When I say effective I mean someone who consistently creates chances/takes shots/scores goals/gets assists. His link up play is good, and we badly need that back right now, but going forward we should be looking to find a player who can link up and be effective.

At this moment in time he's our best option (and if he was too be replaced it will take some player to do that) because Digne looks twice the player when he has Bernard in front of him.

I agree, but our left back is probably our best attacking player.

He might well be but the priority should be making that change and not so much playing to it.

For what it's worth the overall level of attacking output has been pretty flat this season no matter who plays. I would say he's someone who should play when fit, but I don't know that his return is going to spark us into actually doing things.

Only good performance is West Ham so while you are right, that also isn't anything to go off of.

Marco is the problem with the attack is all I'm saying. Don't expect Bernard's return to fitness to fix us.

Never said it would fix us only that he's our most important attacker. Without him we can't even pretend to look half decent.
