Kendall wants Crouch

Tall and strong players are just as important in the PL as fast players are, maybe even more important (as teams without pace can camp back and wait for balls coming into the box), and we have a few: Yak & Chebe, Felli especially... See how chebe played last time? A lot of targetman-ism and holding up - wouldn't hurt to admit it, that crouch can play that role quite well.

And you know what, i bet ya, even though he played 3 years for the RS, he seems like a really decent bloke at that. Got a sense of humour and everything, scores regularly, stays important in any team. Though it's not economically sound and i'd probably prefer a lot of other strikers, i'd have to say it's not the worst deal in the world.

"will that be a pint, Mr Kendall?"

That's a perfectly reasonable, well thought out and well balanced post

I hope you realise that you have no place on this forum with stuff like that

Cannot stand the fcuking human pepperami.

Pity we didn't have a sneaky go at Pavlyuchenko though whilst he was badly out of favour.

Funnily enough a couple of days ago I thought about posting a new message about how we could use Crouch ... glad I didn't after seeing the reaction. People really have an irrational hatred of Crouch -- I've seen people suggest far less prolific scorers for Everton and maybe someone will say "not interested" but they don't respond with the kind of vitriol that Crouch incites. Quite odd ... he's tall ... who cares?

Anyway, watching us hoof the ball up to Anichebe's head (and then we'd lose the ball immediately) got me thinking that with a one striker system, and the fact that our best attacking option comes from crosses, Crouch makes some sense.

Honestly, I do not have the faintest idea how we will score goals when Cahill is gone. I think putting Fellaini up top might be our best option -- if it were Crouch I'd be fine with that. Would a young striker with bags of potential be better? Of course. Is he better than our strikers (aside from Cahill)? Of course.

I know everyone hates him but we could do a lot worse ... and we probably will.

We play great stuff in midfield, even when Stevie P isn't playing, so what's the point of having another great midfield player if we don't have anyone up front to put the ball in the net? I have always rated Crouchie and I think Howard is bang on the money. What do you Crouch-haters want? Blood?

You hit it right on the nail there mate.

I think he'd be yet another static target upfront. Plus, you know that Jags and Neville would just launch the ball at him rather than playing through midfield. Someone like Bendtner has height, but he also has movement and more than one gear.

as it is our play is overly dependent on crosses coming in, attacking down the flanks is somewhat effective but i think this strategy explains our high number of draws and low scoring rate because teams can just load the box with bodies. its also the least effective way to chase games. if we signed crouch literally our entire attack would come from crosses, i think what we need is a creative player like pienaar who can both do a job on the wing and cut inside effectively to create plays in the middle and make sure opposing teams have to defend multi-dimensionally

crouch has a very poor strikerate (even if you consider that most his appearances have come off the bench). this would be a terrible signing imo. I don't hate crouch, and i used to somewhat rate him, but he really doesn't contribute much aside from header goals, which really are the only thing we're capable of scoring at the moment. i think spurs use him effectively, but if we're going to play one striker up front it should be someone who can do a job with the ball at his feet.
