Yeah I’m not sure all that money up front was realistic for them. They were setting a high standard and will probably meet somewhere in the middle in terms of installments.

As for the rumors of Tosun and McCarthy being included (probably BS), I’d take that any day of the week. It’s not that we couldn’t get a price for them, but if they push the deal through, I’ll take it. We’d probably rather part with them in a big transfer than reel in some embarrassing return on Tosun. It gets them off the books as well.

I would imagine that if the transfer includes players it will be done seperately as it is tricky to get all of the deals done together.

Arsenal are paying Pepe's fee over the course of the contract - circa £14m per season.

So if we're willing to pay say, £50m of a £65m fee total up front, it puts us well clear of doing what Arsenal were wanting to do with Zaha (which was pay in instalments over the length of the deal).
