I rate Zouma , but many on here forget the fume when we signed him on loan , and initially when he struggled.

I feel similar. Pretty sure Marcel will be thinking similar too.

I see two possibilities with this. Firstly are being used by Palace to pressure Arsenal, maybe even with our consent (for agreement of signings later in the window).

Secondly we feel we can offload certain players (McCarthy/Tosun/Niasse) to Palace who they are happy to discount in the cost of Zaha. So maybe he is thinking it's hard to offload one or more of them, so it's kind of two birds with 1 stone?
