So we gave baines a new contract for sentimental reasons?
You really think we gave Baines a new contract just for sh1t and giggles?
No we gave him one because we needed another LB but if in the course of finding midfield depth we can get someone who can backup Digne too, and has the ability to run fast still, we should take advantage of that.

It seems some people have forgotten we cant solve everything on this team this window. When that is the case, for positions you are short on you face two choices: A. Do nothing, B. Get a short term solution that you dont have to invest much in, to allow you to invest a large amount at a future date.

This window, I believe we are deciding to invest in a striker, CB, RW, and RB, and thats all we can afford to do. We know we have a deficiency at backup LB, and at CM. Those are going on the backburner, and we arent dropping 40 million on another CM player after paying for Gomes. In the meantime, we need someone capable should we have an injury, and sorry, Tom Davies isnt going to get us top 6. Get some short term help and maybe a young up and coming player, and then next year you can invest heavily in those positions.

Doesnt seem like rocket science but...according to some it is?

I thought Baines will cover LB?

Hope we can get rid of McCarthy and Besic at least and keep Gana.

1. Gana, if he stays, he won't be available at the start of the season. He will go on holiday at least 3 weeks and he could be ready in September.
2. People expect Mccarthy, Besic and Schniderlin to leave and we might let youngsters go out on lone again.
3. We need to spend big money on centre back, forward and winger.
4. Welcome, Delph.

....missing my Racing Post but I dare say i’ll get a few bets on this Saturday morning, here’s the Toffee transfer rumours for 13th July and the indication is we’re close to another signing;

- Whilst Sky Sports and other outlets suggest Everton are in advanced talks with Manchester City to sign Fabian Delph, The Daily Mail and TalkSport say an £8m deal has been agreed for the 29 year old.

- Everton’s Official Site has confirmed a season-long loan deal at Ipswich Town for 26 year old left back, Luke Garbutt.

- According to TeamTalk, Fulham lead the chase for Everton’s Mo Besic, and are prepared to meet the midfielders £5m valuation. Apparently there is Bundesliga, Ligue1 and Serie A interest but the Bosnian international wants to stay in England.

- Journalist Jorge Nicola reports Everton have lodged a €35m bid for Brazilian winger, Malcom, but Barcelona want €40m for the 22 year old.

- The Liverpool Echo continue to say Lille forward Nicolas Pépé is a key Toffees target, whilst Everton have told RB Leipzig they will have to pay £25m for Ademola Lookman. There are also articles picking up on recent reports of renewed interest from PSG for Idrissa Gueye.

- The Blackpool Gazette claim Everton have had a £200k bid turned down for Fleetwood’s 19 year old English youth international goalkeeper, Billy Crellin.

- The Mail confirm striker Callum Wilson has signed a new deal with Bournemouth, amidst long-term rumours linking him with a move to Everton.

- According to The Liverpool Echo, Blackpool are one of a number of clubs who have enquired about Everton’s 19 year old forward, Fraser Hornby. The Scottish U21 international is currently at the Toffee’s pre-season training camp in Switzerland.
