It equates to £77k a week when staggered over a 5 year contract.

Give him that and £120k a week and it beats uniteds offer by £20k a week.

Care to explain your comment?

So Utd aren’t giving him a signing on fee?

Regardless - £20m signing on fee for Rabiot. Great plan!

Guys, New Assistant Manager of Everton will be Luís Boa Morte. Is Marco choice...

Joao Pedro Sousa returns to Portugal.

Sauce is from Portugal
Everton are looking to appoint former Arsenal forward Luis Boa Morte as the club's new assistant manager.

Marco Silva's long-serving No2 Joao Pedro Sousa has left Goodison to become boss of Portuguese side Famalicão.

Sousa had been Silva's right hand man through his managerial career but has returned to his homeland to fulfil his coaching ambitions.

The Blues have now stepped up their efforts to find his replacement and are targeting Boa Morte.
From Kirkbride in the Echo, You sauced up m8? Give us the Gomes gossip

Lovey hair though:

Would love him to join us, but don’t think we’d have a chance. The only way he’s heading to us if nobody else is interested and we meet his financial demands (which I’m not too sure we can).

If he did come here, it would be a worthwhile investment as he’d push for a move within a year and we could make our money back.

Think we'd need to go a bit lighter on the weekly wage though and make it up through a signing on fee.

Exactly.

Im really not sure whats hard to comprehend here.

United have offered him a £170k weekly salary + £5mil upfront signing bonus.

If Everton offer him £120k a week salary + £20mil staggered over 5 years its a superior offer and keeps the wages lower.

For the first 4 years our offer would be £5mil superior.

You could literally keep the player for 4 years and sell at £45mil and in profit.

Great deal for both the player and the club.

£20mil over 5 years + £120k a week and we would be in profit for any sale for the first 4 seasons.

Not a chance Rabiot will end up at Everton...... 100%

The club have said they are looking to reduce wage budget, this would go against that in a very big way.

Have they actually said that they want to reduce the wage bill, or is it more the case that they want less waste and better value for money from the wage bill? Either way, I think that people take a few comments made at the AGM way too literally.

We could afford the likes of Rabiot just through getting rid of the wages of Jagielka, Baines, McCarthy and Niasse. It's really the type of signing that we should be going for if we actually want to compete at the top of the table, instead of harbouring this belief that if you wait patiently we will eventually be rewarded for our patience in 25 years time.

In isolation it’s a good deal, for a player who could be sold beyond £40m easily. Hopefully Brands can bring him aboard without committing too much wedge on the lad and we can launch him if he starts acting the goat.

Not getting too carried away with his one as Man Utd could blow us away with any financial offering - And, they probably will.

Exactly.

I was questioning your calculation. Everton wouldn’t be offering the equivalent of £20k / week more

(Based on your £20m signing on fee, £120k a week over 5 yr scenario against Utd’s £5m signing on fee and £170k a week over the same period)

Giving rabiot a £20m signing on fee and £120k a week seems like such a good deal that there appears to be clubs left, right and centre offering it to him.

It’s a ludicrous idea.

Oh mr Richarlison, we’d like you to renew your contract. Signing on fee? Oh, £20m appears to be the going rate.
I realise it’s not quite the same when renewing contracts but it would lead to all sorts of problems
