Goalkeepers are notoriously hard to replace though, but not the end of the world if Pickford was to leave.

Pedro Alvaro from benfica b would be interesting. Just turned 19. They have a track record of finding promising young defenders. No doubt they’ll sell one of their current ones for £30m, promote Alvaro and then sell him for £40m in a couple of years.

It’d be nice to get in early.

I get what you're saying, but if we sign a 22 year old Brazilian international fresh from playing in the latter stages of the CL there's no way he's not being pencilled straight into the starting line up.

We signed Bernard who has a similar pedigree and it took Silva far too long to get him in there and push Walcott out. So I personally don't believe that. This isn't the Dutch league.
