Why would we be stupid to not sell our best player? Who are we getting with £60m that can push us on?

I suppose because every player has a price. 60 million for Digne a, a player we paid 15 million for last summer would be a fantastic deal.

I would trust our DOF to be able to spend the funds on 2-3 players (including a replacement) to help move us on.

I remember 2 years ago, people were saying similar things about players such as Schneiderlin or others who ended up bombing the next season. I suppose that process has made me quite cynical about the playing staff. Every player has their price and if that if reached I'm happy to have players moved on.

You don’t improve by selling your best players. We apparently have money, so why would we want one of the best players in their position to be sold?

You’re a fan, I’d concentrate on wanting to have the best players available on the field, not worry about boosting the club’s accounts.

Don't you? Did Manchester United not go on and win multiple titles after selling Ronaldo? Or build a side that conquered Europe after selling Kanchelskis, Ince & Hughes?

Liverpool have improved massively on selling Coutinho. When we sold Lineker we won the league. When we sold Rooney we went from 17th to 4th. It's a myth that selling players for inflated prices doesn't help the team.

The sorts of teams we are trying to emulate, (Madrid, Dortmund, Monaco etc) all rely upon selling players. They've sold Politic and replaced him with Hazard & Brandt. Sensible business, no?

We have limitations as to what can be done via FFP. A big sale, such as 60 million for Digne would be a no brainer. It would be 4 times what we paid. What's critical is the recruitment of the players that come from the sale are the right personnel.

I don't worry myself with accounting. However if you want better players on the field, maximising revenue from sales is a good way to start this!

The othe lot have. It’s how you spend the readies

Even if he was involved, he is small fry compared to these Arabs. He talks about making profits, whereas the Arabs are concerned with losing as much money as they possibly can. Their 350 million purchase of Newcastle eclipses Moshiri's expenditure with Everton before they even get started investing in the club.

He doesn't have that much money himself. Serious journalists are very sceptical. He offered loads for Liverpool but couldn't prove he had the funds.

Two rumours are going around right now. One is that he is a blagger and has to borrow money just to buy the club. The other is that he is the real deal and has a fortune of 118 billion. I obviously hope that the former is true, but I would be concerned if he was the latter.

Apparently he has over 100 billion! There's a lot of hysteria about this.

I'll throw a couple of conspiracies though. Firstly, there's loads of money within the PL. Even for a side who are a steady PL team. So buying a stake to solidify the seems far more likely.

Options 2, buying to potentially put themselves in the running for a European super League.

Option 3, buying so that if a Super League comes, they can then up spending to build a side ready for challenging.

I read similar to you re the Liverpool takeover too. Lets see what happens. We heard about Wolves doing something similar, and while they spent it was less than us (and were successful by how they spent rather than how much).

Be clear though, there is absolutely no way, United, Liverpool, Chelea and Arsenal allow a side to come in and replicate what City did without ramifications.

If you scratch beneath the surface the 2nd one seems very unlikely. FSG are a pretty astute bunch, it's hard to imagine them turning down such a bloke for not having funds.

The fact that he couldn't prove he had the money when he tried to buy Liverpool is just that...a fact. In any case Moshiri has enough to keep us in overpriced players for a long time.

There's only so many top drawer players to go around, and the absolute fact is that none of the really top drawer ones are going within 40 miles of Newcastle unless playing there for another team.

Like us, they have missed the boat. The money that is needed now to make a difference is too huge and the gap too big. Stick the prestige of the CL into the mix and they haven't got a cat in hells chance of joining the party.
