I would suspect that given how much Brands has had to think about getting shut of high-wage old geezers this year, he would be reluctant to bring in a new one, even if free.

Welbeck = decent squad player

Wouldn't get a game ahead of any of our wide men or a lone striker, not worth having a big wage on the bench to come on try and do a step-over and brush the ball out of play. If we're going for first teamers they need to be better than what we've got, otherwise I'd prefer a talented hungry youngster on the bench ready to give it their all.

Like either of those could run the line for long enough to coincide with the other one being able to run too. You're head oven scenario is unlikely.

Hahaha. Welbeck! A classic example of a player who has stolen a living on high wages because he is British. In any other decent league these players would be binned off altogether or be playing for the bottom 2 or 3 clubs. Just like Lingard, Phil Jones, Jack Wilshire etc. Absolute myths.

More that £100k a week? Utterly insulting to professional footballers who have had to work on their talent and further insulting to any fan who can kick a ball and run around a bit who fancies earning money they could only dream of!

If we can get the kind of money that's being rumoured then I would begrudgingly accept that and try to repeat the trick with another player, who hopefully doesn't need a work permit!
