Messi "best player of all time"

In between Stoichkov level and Platini level, for me.

Played with some great players like Iniesta, Xavi, etc who provided the base for him to do his thing.

A great player, but only a daft millennial with zero grasp of history of would ever describe him as "greatest of all time".

Messi has scored in Champions League finals. Or does that not matter? Hard to keep up with all the rules people use to deny the obvious.

Yep Messi has indeed scored in a champions league final and played in teams that included the likes of Iniesta, Xavi, puyol, alba, neymar, busquets, David villa, abidal, eto, yaya toure, Thierry Henry

Tell me the notable players in the napoli slide that maradona played in?

Are you going enough to have seen maradona?

Quite simply maradona was 40 years ahead of his time..... football isn't even at the level he was at yet.

Messi is brilliant.... absolutely brilliant. Maradona in his prime was an absolute freak..... he played on pitches that were bobbly, against defenders that would like to and get away with breaking bones.....

In this day and age, on the pitches we have, the modern football and it's flight and the non contact sport it's become maradona would be untouchable

I do love the revisionism of the Maradona cultists.

Firstly none of them acknowledge he was a probable drug cheat throughout his career but that's for another day.

But you'd get the impression he played in literal swamps and defenders were basically allowed to be armed and hammer attacks to the face were allowed.

Maradona played in an era of small weak unfit defenders who ate oranges and smoked 20 Marlboro on the half time break.

Maradona will go down in history as a football God.

Messi will go down in history as a nice little player.

In reality, out of today's game, only Cristiano Ronaldo would even get a foot in the room that contains El Diego, Pele, Cruyff.

Are you old enough to have watched maradona?

Personally I was 10 years old..... I thought he was incredible.... that 86 world cup he was a one man team. Never seen anyone since that get anywhere close to that level.

Cocaine is hardly a performance enhancing drug... not on a football pitch. You would get more out of caffeine, coke would likely induce a heart attack. His ephedrine use for weight loss in 94 granted..... yeah that stuff does work.... I used an ECA stack in the 90's- basically like speed.

But at his peak in 86.... no one to touch him.

You could argue Zidane above Messi for the same reasons people argue Messi above maradona.... for me Messi is above Zidane but not close to Diego
